This fall Mattel and Nickelodeon plan on launching a new look for Dora the Explorer. For two years, we have known the little girl with the signature hair cut, purple backpack, and a t-shirt and shorts get up, but it looks like that girl is growing up! Both companies have agree on a decision to “sexify Dora.”
Yeah… you heard right. SEXIFY. DORA the Explorer. A show for young preschoolers… Doesn’t really make sense to me but I’m curious to see what the new Dora will look like.
I don’t think she will really look like this, someone just made this but I thought it was funny anyways.

Yes, I read that, but I definitely think that readers may simply glance at the pic and be confused. That’s all I was saying. If I was Mattel and Nickelodeon I’d be raising hell about that graphic because many people will simply see the pic, not read the accompanying text, and go off thinking that that’s what the new Dora looks like. (I realize that you didn’t create it.)

I wish people would read the entire post. I know this is not what the New Dora will look like and I actually made a follow up post of the revealed look. I didn’t think it was necessary for me to have to state twice that the above photo was made up but clearly I have to for some readers.

As luck would have it, our daughter who had been in love with Dora the explorer has “out-grown” this cartoon just in time. Mattel and Nickelodeon need to take some of the income from this new venture and hire a few psychologists to examine their development staff; or just stop listening to the My-Space Princesses they seem to be currently listening to.

Dora was always the most horrible show that assumes kids are stupid when they are little, and need to be talked to incredibly slowly, because they don’t understand anything.
