Jon and Kate release statements
“Over the course of this weekend, Jon’s activities have left me no choice but to file legal procedures in order to protect myself and our children,” Kate said in a statement Monday night. “While there are reasons why it was appropriate and necessary for me to initiate this proceeding, I do not wish to discuss those reasons at this time, in the hope that all issues will be resolved amicably between Jon and myself. As always, my first priority remains our children.
Jon released a statement of his own, claiming his wife was the first to make a legal move. “This afternoon, Kate filed for divorce. Our kids are still my number one priority. I love them and want to make sure they stay happy, healthy and safe. My job is being the best, most supportive and loving father that I can be to my kids, and not being married to Kate doesn’t change that.”

Did anyone watch tonight’s episode? I felt like Kate did a lot of inspirational talk and Jon seemed like he really didn’t care that much but like he said, he’s not a good communicator. Overall, I think I felt sad for both of them. I’ve been watching this show for two + years and I want to see the kids turn out okay after all of this.

Jon and Kate have filed divorce papers
It’s quite the newsy day today isn’t it? I have not watched the new episode tonight yet but this has been confirmed. After 10 years of marriage, Jon and Kate are calling it quits.
Will this make their lives easier? Maybe. Tabloids still gonna be on their case? Oh yes, I’m sure.
Perez Hilton vs Will.I.Am
In other violent news…
Last night at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Canada, shit went down.
Apparently, The Black Eyed Peas have not been happy with the stuff Perez Hilton has been posting on his website, ie. calling Fergie fugly and also disliking one of their songs. Fergie confronted this issue with Perez saying, “Why are you posting mean stuff about me.” Perez basically said, it was nothing personal, he just says what he says and that’s his job. He apologized, I think.
Later on Will.I.Am approached Perez Hilton in a club and said, “I need you to stop talking about my band on your website.” Perez said he would try but he can’t promise anything but Will.I.Am saw this as being disrespectful. Perez and his posse then decided to leave the club but Will.I.Am followed and then out of nowhere, Perez Hilton was punched in the eye 2 or 3 times by the manager of Black Eyed Peas.

What’s my take on this?
I don’t read Perez Hilton’s blog, but of course I know about it. I think, words are words and people like to take things too seriously. I think that’s why stupid fights happen and what Will.I.Am did was unprofessional. You cannot … demand respect. You aren’t always going to be happy with people’s actions or words but that is something you do not have control over. Freedom of speech right? Perez, I’m on your side. I can’t imagine if someone got mad at me over some opinion I had on my blog, that would just confuse me? But here’s a general rule to stick with, if you don’t like something don’t read it. People aren’t always going to like you.
Chris Brown Trial
…is today! Well, it’s the preliminary hearing and Rihanna WILL be in attendance but no word yet on if she will testify or not.
But honestly, I hope she does it! Otherwise Chris Brown is getting a mere slap on the wrist and then some but it’s not just about punishment. I think if something like this happens, then you need to speak up and I’m not just talking about Rihanna but for anyone that has been or will be affected.

Chris Brown has copped a plea in his assault case. He won’t do jail time, but he will spend 6 months doing things like road cleanup.He’s also been ordered to stay 50 yards clear of Rihanna.
He’ll spend 180 days doing hard labor in Virginia which is where Brown lives – it’s equivalent to Caltrans or graffiti cleanup.
He gets 5 years probation for FELONY assault — he pled guilty. He’ll get supervised probation. He’ll have to come back to court every three months.
He must enroll in a domestic violence counseling program.
This is interesting … the judge said if Brown and Rihanna are at the same public events, the 50-yard stay away turns into 10 yards. The stay away order lasts 5 years.
The judge said she wanted to make sure that Chris Brown “was treated as any other person who comes through this court.”
If Brown violates probation, he could get up to 4 years in prison.
Rihanna is in the courthouse but never entered the courtroom.
So Brown is now a convicted felon and loses the right to vote or carry a gun.
