To me, Lady Gaga is a mystery. She’s always left me wondering why she performs the way she does, dresses the way she does, and acts the way that she does. For the longest time, I’ve been seeing her as a character. Before the fame, she was very normal, from what I’ve read and then all of a sudden her transformation turned her into what she is known for today. She is Lady Gaga, the character.
Barbara Walters interviewed Lady Gaga on a special that aired tonight, and it completely shocked me. I thought she was going to answer robotically or just be the character, but she was not.
Let me just give my 2 cents on this!
I think because Lady Gaga has been seen as this sort of alien-esque character, the majority of people see her in a one-dimensional aspect. A sort of Pop-Star puppet that shocks and awes. But Gaga is a performance ARTIST in so many ways, and her interview with Barbara Walters really shows this.
I don’t think Gaga has the “real” her on the weekends at home, and the “star” her that gets out and performs. Her image is authenically her, and that’s what makes her so unique!
I read somewhere that Gaga embraced “the fame” as a possesion, rather than a concept; she has the fame under her control, rather than letting it get to her, as we have seen so many others stars make mistakes with (Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, the list goes on).
I could say more, but I think it’s pretty clear! Lady Gaga is a complete genius!
very well said Jamie! Have fun at her concert!
thanks katie!
