Michael Cera takes on the Guidos and Guidettes

Earlier last week, I did an “In the News…” roundup, which included pictures of Michael Cera hanging out w/ the cast of the Jersey Shore. At the time, I didn’t know why he would even think to do that. He was supposed to collaborate with MTV to promote his new movie Youth in Revolt, but instead decided to transform himself into Michael Cera the guido.

I’m only posting this video because I like Michael Cera. That’s all.

He’s coming. THE FRANK WARREN, creator of the well-known project Post Secret, is coming to Seattle University on Thursday, January 14th at 7 PM. We are so lucky to be a part of his Spring 2010 event tour. I think everyone here is more than a little bit excited about this.

If you don’t know what Post Secret is…WAKE UP.

Enlighten yourself here

This is a free event and for Seattle University students. You will be admitted by your ID and are allowed to bring one guest (non-Seattle University student) per ID. Students will be given priority first before outside guests will be allowed in as there is a limited amount of space.

Rodarte in Real Life

Just like there are social hierarchys in real life, you might easily believe that the fashion world reflects the same idea. The celebrities and the wealthy stick to high end designers, boutiques,  and even slipping themselves into couture from all over the world. Everyone else that does not fit into the above category sticks to generic brands and those buildings with many shops in them called malls. So when Natalie Portman decided to throw on this Rodarte for Target dress (for the normal people) I was shocked! (Yep, the same kind of shock I found myself in when I realized Chanel Iman and I had purchased the floral print dress from H&M months ago!) This is about a $75 dress I would assume. It’s a great dress nonetheless, but why is she wearing this one when she could have her pick of any other dress in the world?! This is just one more reason why I adore her.

What have we learned from this picture:

1) Natalie Portman is fantastic.

2) She knew how to mix high end with low end (of course)

3) She makes this Rodarte for Target dress more appealing. How many girls today went and thought, “I want this dress because N. Portman wore it.” At least one :)

What’s the Point?

There’s only two types of people in the world
The ones that entertain and the ones that observe – Britney Spears (Circus)

Question: Which one are you? I decided to throw out my New Year’s resolution post. I had resolutions. I still have them. I also have questions for myself and expectations to predict how things will pan out in the end.

It’s probably unhealthy to lean to one side too much, but if I had to pick one… I’d rather be the entertainer in this equation. I can’t imagine being another face in the crowd. Another statistic. A name without a face. No credit. I can’t imagine never stepping outside of that box. Can you? Uncomfortable moments could quite possibly be the ones that make us feel alive.

At the same time, I’m not asking to be a panty flasher, Taylor Swift acceptance award ruiner, Tila Nguyen wannabe.

I am so curious about the lives of people. I think that’s why I’m so attracted to projects such as Post Secret, Someone Once Told Me…, 50 Things, etc. It’s the chance of getting to see a snapshot into other people’s lives – stripping away all judgments.

For a second think about yourself. Look back on every memorable experience you have ever had in your life, shared or not. No one will ever live the life that you live. Now think of all of the people around you that you have or haven’t met yet. If only “walking in someone else’s shoes…” could be a reality… right?
