Today, I wrote a paper on what it means to me to have freedom and how this relates to theology and the Christian view. Too many times in my life, I have felt confined. Confined in space, confined for five minutes, confined in good company. To look back on that now is selfish. I get to go to school. I get to pursue whatever I want [and I am!] There are many people in this world that don’t have this privilege. There are some people who will never leave jail ever again.
Photographer Matthew Rainwaters shot this series entitled “Offenders,” which captures a brief overview of two inmates in the Texas Department of Justice. I would post under the cut several photographs, but this one series that I believe you should take a look at for yourself.
Take my word for it.

My first thought was, “Is this what heaven will look like?” Maybe that’s the theology talking. Then again, my heaven would include endless noodles. The Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas just unveiled their new restaurant Beijing Noodle No. 9 and it looks incredibly dreamy.
For the most part, the entire decor may look like all sorts of busy-ness, but Design Spirits Co. a Japanese studio, did an amazing job of balancing it out with the minimalist vibe that gives it its zen and peaceful atmosphere. The general Arabic pattern covers the restaurant from floor to ceiling.
Someone go eat at this restaurant and tell me what it is like!

A part of me would like to believe that all photography is good. That your eye is your eye is your eye is your eye. I’m not the best photo critic. I definitely didn’t start out being an expert but over the years I learned. With experience you learn more than just what you like and don’t like, but what is photography and what …isn’t. Seriously, there’s a lot that isn’t. Also, you should know that anyone can “say” that they are a photographer. Just like anyone can say they are a singer, a designer, a model, an actress etc etc. Until you have something to show for, we don’t believe you. Back yourself up with something and learn your craft. I’m a firm believer in people who are driven and goal oriented – but don’t talk yourself up. Anyone can say they want to be anything. I’ll use myself for an example, I used to want to be a dancer and an astronomer based on no experience at all when I was little! Here’s what I don’t want to see in a photograph:
Over-edited, over contrasted, flowers, leaves, photos that you snapped for no reason and then realized you could do something with it once you got home, done, done, and done. Take a second and think about what you are shooting.
I guess this is coming at an interesting time because Facebook friends are now asking me to become “fans” of their photography pages. Good for them, for wanting to get their name out there. I think it’s nice to see that you’re working hard towards your dream. I support my friends. I support passion and drive. I don’t support cliched photographs.
Anyways,
Christopher Gilbert recently shot this series that is both witty and humorous. Thought I would share:

I was all set to make a New Year’s post this year, but for some reason or another, I just never got around to doing it. Sorrayy. It’s hard for people to come up with one. At the start of this year, I think I had three, but now I can’t seem to remember. That’s the hard part about having a resolution, you have to remember for a year. As if you don’t have a ton of other stuff to remember right? You also have to commit to it for a year. If you ever want to know if you’re ready for a committed relationship, I suggest you try keeping a New Year’s resolution.
Well, we’re already into February. It’s a little difficult to keep a New Year’s resolution now, but it’s definitely not too late to keep an 11-month one. Need help?
Let the “This Year I Will” generator assist you.
