iTunes hits the big 10 Billion

Don’t even get me started on the whole paying for music thing. I think what iTunes does is great, particularly because they make so much money off of it and people are willing to pay $1 or more for songs. I think sometimes putting a money value on something shows people its worth. I hate to relate this back to theology, but only because I had that class today, I was thinking that we take a lot of things for granted. Everything sometimes. Let’s not forget that the music that we listen to comes from hard hard work from our favorite artists. Right? Therefore, slightly justified. And as much as I …support what iTunes and Apple does doesn’t exactly mean that I follow what I support? 😉

Here’s some more facts about mainstream music. We all love that.

The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” is the most-downloaded song

Lady Gaga is the artist with the most songs toward the top, with “Poker Face” at #2, “Just Dance” at #6 and “Bad Romance” at #22

All of the top 25 tracks were released in the past five years (Ke$ha’s “Tik Tok” is the newest at #10) except for one: “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

The person who bought the 10 billionth track gets a $10,000 iTunes gift card. [WHOA. 10,000 songs…lucky]

And what was the 10 billionth song downloaded?!

Johnny Cash’s “Guess Things Happen That Way.”
