Song of the Day

Chris Walla – Sing Again

Because I just spent my entire Friday night listening to Seattle music. This is actually my first time ever seeing this video and it’s so great! It was filmed in Seattle, the concept is fantastic, and I can’t remember if my old coworker was featured in this video or if it was his wife, but regardless, not knowing still doesn’t change the way I feel about this song or this video.

People Breaking Rules

Today, Max and I watched an online news story from CNN about a 33-year old teacher who had had sexual relations with a 14-year old…Gross! Plus, she actually decided to just walk into that police station with her attorney and turn herself in. Said teacher could be facing seven years in prison now.

So why do teachers do this? They’re supposed to be educators yes? Role models? Of course. They are not supposed to be your first time, your lovin’ on the side, or whatever it is you want to call it. It’s just bad news.

Somehow we’re not all that phased when we see it in Mean Girls, in Saved By the Bell the College Years (bad example, Kelly Kapowski was of age I’m sure, but that’s her professor!) and other examples that I can’t think of right now.

The Frisky informed me that based on a new study, women who are teachers top the list as being one of the most unfaithful. The most unfaithful women can also be found as housewives (duh! Desperate Housewives anyone?) nurses, administrative assistants, and real estate agents. For men: doctors, lawyers, policemen, engineers, and real estate agents.

I bet the whole world is wondering where musicians, athletes, politicians, actors and porn stars fall on the list. Just saying…

The City Never Sleeps…in NEW YORRRRRK

I don’t know about you, but four months later, I am still loving the “Empire State of Mind” song. As mainstream as it is, there’s no denying the goodness of it. So everytime I hear some news about New York, all I wanna do is sing, “…in NEWWWWW YORRRRK…These streets will make you feel brand new!”

Inspiring is what it is.

I’ve never been to New York, but from what I hear it is always being referred to as “the city that never sleeps,” and it’s easy to believe.

German photographer Christopher Thomas must have been conducting stakeouts because he has managed to compose a book of photographers proving that the city does sleep after all. After nearly a decade of snapping these rare shots, he has managed to capture notable sights with not one single person in them.

House of Thousands of Cards

A new Guiness World Record has been set for the ultimate “house of cards.” That title now belongs to American architect Bryan Berg who created this amazing replica of the Venetian Macau (now at the Venetian Macau)  out of 218,792 cards - that’s 4,051 decks!

Curious to see what it really looks like?

Spring is upon us

I hope that by the time spring break has come and gone we will have truly entered SPRING. I love these spring nail colors above by Orly Nails, which I’m sure I will hunt down soon.

Looking forward to dance classes, ice cream in my favorite park, blouses and dresses, homework and reading on the patio and smoothies EVERYDAY.

What does spring make you most excited for?

Harvest of Hope Fest

This weekend, the Harvest of Hope Fest is going down in St. Augustine, Florida. This is the first time I’m ever hearing of this festival, but they seem to have a fairly decent lineup including my favorites: Portugal. The Man, Kimya Dawson, Rogue Wave, Matt Pond PA, Kid Sister, and many more. To check out the rest of the lineup click here

All proceeds from this festival will go directly towards the Harvest of Hope Foundation, a non profit that seeks to provide both educational and emergency aid for migrant farm workers . You can buy a one-day pass or a three day pass. Just kidding you can’t buy the three day pass because the festival starts today. My bad.

Sorry I cannot hear you I’m K-kinda busy

Alright first thoughts HERE:

I watched the video last night with my dear friend Alexis while a million things were running through my mind. Below are my questions and comments.

- Did you know that Lady Gaga originally pened this song for Britney Spears, but she turned it down so Lady Gaga took it and her and Beyonce made it AWESOME.

- Why did the beginning of Telephone look like an old school hip hop video?

- Borderline porn. Maybe?

- Laurie Ann Gibson overhyped that choreography.

- 9 minute and 32 second video. It was more of like a story line, but I sort of hoped that the video was more of a music video and didn’t have so many breaks.

- Everything else, not that shocking. Still a great song.

Your turn!
