Debate on the Dale Chihuly Museum

There’s a lot of talk going on right now about whether or not we want to have the new Dale Chihuly Museum settled in right next to the Space Needle. Within the next couple of weeks, there will be some meetings and  discussions which I believe members of the Seattle community are invited to participate in. I found this picture courtesy of The Slog, which is supposed to be an “image of the proposal.” I’m not sure if it’s going to still be where the old Fun Forest was, but either way I think it looks great and I’d really like to see this in person if we decide to go through with it.

Om Nom

Cupcake Royale’s newest featured cupcake the Irish Whiskey Maple is amazing. Get one to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Molly Moon’s is going mobile! According to their blog, they are looking to hire a few ice cream truck drivers. Their ice cream truck will hit up spots that are not close to a Molly Moon’s location. Will they have their own theme song too?

Jessie Spano vs The Caffeine

Most college students have one week of dead week and one week of finals. This student has no dead week and two weeks of finals. I envy the lives of those who have finished college sometimes and are out in the real world when I spent the majority of my days studying and classing.

You would think that living in Seattle would have taught me how to be a better coffee drinker. It has not. In fact, I stray away from caffeine typically. No cokes, no  chai, nothing. This week I needed it so I bought myself those already bottled Starbucks drinks. Haven’t had caffeine in a long time so the effects were a lot stronger than I imagined. Then I remembered what caffeine can do to you. It can give you the Jessie Spano Syndrome

This is probably one of the most epic episodes in all of the Saved By the Bell seasons. Let me break it down for you even though the chart says it all: Jessie gets stressed. She has a test and she has to practice with her band. There aren’t enough hours in the day! The pressure is on. She discovers caffeine pills and she takes them until she becomes crazy “I’M SO EXCITED I’M SO EXCITED I’M SO SCARED!”

Best episode ever. Thank you Nathaniel James for creating this graph and bringing back these memories.

Well… watching that video might not make you laugh

Lesbians who Look like Justin Bieber

There’s not much that I can say about this time waster site. In my opinion, there are a lot of people that look like him and they’re not just lesbians. There is definitely a kid here at my school who I see all the time and for some reason I have this urge to make him sing me his hit song. The truth is, he doesn’t really look like Justin Bieber. He just has blonde hair and a baby face… or is it a generic face? I’ll let you decide that one :)
I don’t believe this kid has ever been in love. I don’t enjoy his music. I’m holding these negative feelings against him because I once watched this video of him eating a combination of food that had been mixed up in a blender. He threw it up and then proceeded to try and eat it off the table. Worst thing to watch ever.

Facts of the Day

- Women will spend about $13,000 on makeup in their lifetime.

While I’m sure that fact is true, I have a hard time believing it right now. Two weekends ago I did buy a new Chanel foundation compact that cost me $65. WORST IDEA EVER. That’s just too much money to be spending on one small item… and it makes me feel like some annoying materialistic girl. In my defense…I pay for the good quality.

- Women spend 20 minutes a day putting on makeup (TRUE on my end)

This is 330 days of your lifetime.

Now how do you feel? Facts are fun right?

We don’t ask to be role models

A lot of things that Taylor Momsen usually says leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. She’s a sixteen-year old girl who displays this attitude of “not giving a f—,” but I can’t help but wonder every time if this is just some sort of an act. Why so much angst?

In a recent interview w/ Parade, Taylor Momsen finally said something that made sense. For the first time, I have found myself agreeing with her.

“I don’t read that crap that describes me as having an attitude, but I don’t know why that’s a bad thing. Attitude is in the eye of the beholder. I didn’t get into this to be a role model for 7-year-olds. I have no interest in doing that, you know? If parents don’t like some of the stuff I do then they shouldn’t let their kids watch me.

I smoke, so what? Why do people give a sh*t what a 16-year-old girl who they’ve never met does? It’s not like I’m sitting there going, ‘Kids, you should go buy a pack of cigarettes.’ When I walk outside with a cigarette and someone takes a picture of it and puts it on the Internet, it’s not my problem. I’m just living my life and I’m not gonna live my life for other people.”

She makes a good point. She’s no Miley, Selena, Demi, or Taylor Swift. She wasn’t in this to have little girls looking up to her. There are plenty of other 16-year old girls that smoke, I remember it around me in high school. So I guess…good for Taylor, for not conforming to be that role model. There are enough of those out there right now anyways.
