Out of every event during the year, award shows included, The Metropolitan Costume Gala is by far my favorite. This year’s theme was American Women: Fashioning a National Identity.
Oprah Winfrey w/ Oscar de la Renta in his design. 4.2
Anna Wintour in Chanel Haute Couture and her daughter Bee Shaffer in Balenciaga Edition. 4 and 4.4

Jessica Alba in Sophie Theallet for Gap. 4.3
M.I.A. and Zoe Kravitz w/ Alexander Wang both in Alexander Wang for Gap. I can’t judge this outfit.
Zoe Saldana and Diane Kruger both w/ Francisco Costa in Calvin Klein Collection. Diane’s dress reminds me of Ashley Olsen’s last year. 4 for both.
Marchesa’s Keren Craig and Georgina Chapman with Eva Longoria Parker in Marchesa. 3-4.1-3.8
Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs. This is kind of fantastic. 4.9
Mila Kunis w/ Vera Wang in her design. They both get 5′s.
Kerry Washington in Thakoon for Gap. Love it love it! 4.8 The gold heels are perfect w/ this sheeny red.
Brooke Shields w/ Michael Kors in his design. 3.2 meh She’s gorgeous regardless.
Rachel Bilson in Louis Vuitton. This is a drastic change from the look she wore at last year’s Gala, but this is nice. 4.3
Jude Law and Sienna Miller in Emilio Pucci. This dress is a 4.2. A risky cut paired with the BEST shoes.
Carey Mulligan in Miu Miu. Oh Carey, how we can always predict your next look. Pretty color, I’m iffy on the dress. 3.1
Fashionista Chloe Sevigny with Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez in their design. 4.2 I love the turquoise color.
Gisele Bündchen in Alexander Wang and Tom Brady in Tom Ford. I liked her dress better last year. And… her shoes are better than the dress, but I’ll still give her a 3.85
Joy Bryant in Marchesa – 3.3
Hillary Rhoda w/ Prabal Gurung in his design. 3.6
Alexa Chung w/ Phillip Lim in 3.1 Phillip Lim. This deserves a 5 for its execution.
Camilla Belle w/ Jason Wu in his design. 5
Eva Mendes in Dolce & Gabbana. I will never like the fishtail. 3.1
Demi Moore in Lanvin. This is more futuristic looking than classy. 2.8
Jessica Biel in Ralph Lauren w/ Justin Timberlake in his own design by William Rast. She gets a 3.3 only because it looks like that dress is wearing her not the other way around.
Valentino’s Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri w/ Anne Hathaway in Valentino and Kate Bosworth in Valentino Haute Couture. 4.3 and 3 respectively.

The Miss Carrie Bradshaw herself, Sarah Jessica Parker in Halston Heritage. 4.4
Janet Jackson in Lanvin. That’s not a safety pin on her shoulder is it?! This looks … not put together. 1.8
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Louis Vuitton. 4.2
Donna Karan in her own design. 3.
Gwen Stefani in L.A.M.B. with husband Gavin Rossindale. I don’t mind being able to see her undergarments, but the one black strap bothers me. A lot. This could have been a 4.7 now it’s a 4.3
Diane Lane in Michael Kors – 3.3
Marion Cotillard in Dior. 2.3 : ( it’s too much
Stella McCartney in her own design with Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson in Stella McCartney as well. I usually don’t like the draping found on dresses like Stella’s wearing, but I really like the simplicity of this look. 4.8-4.2-4.4
Donatella Versace in her own design. It’s scary to think that a human face looks like that doesn’t it?! 3.6
Chanel Iman in Michael Kors. At first glance I thought she was Zoe Saldana. Chanel can wear practically anything she wants. She will look great no matter what.
Iman in Prada. This is beautiful. 5.
Joseph Altuzarra w/ Karolina Kurkova wearing his design. Those shoes leave a weird taste in my mouth and I’m not a huge fan of the dress either. She could’ve done better. 2.6
Elizabeth Banks in Gucci. Hahah who do you think you are…how very out of character for Elizabeth. 2.4
Rachel Weiss in Oscar de la Renta. Pretty color, but the dress isn’t doing that much for her, unfortunately. 2.9
Tina Fey in Yves Saint Laurent. Oh no no no… I really wanted to see her in a more elegant gown. Let’s leave the menswear to Chanel and Alexa. 2.4
Cassie in Versace. How did she get invited to this? She made this look a little bit tacky. 2.2
Emma Watson in Burberry. LOVE. 4.85
Bar Rafaeli in Rag & Bone. She made this mini look good. 4.7!
Christina Hendricks in L’Wren Scott. Not for me. And not really for her either. 2.1
Anja Rubik in Altuzarra. She made this look boring. 3.2 and she looked better last year.
Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren. This was a little bit predictable, but it is very true to herself. 3
Emmy Rossum in Kenneth Cole. I would have opted for longer silver layered necklaces instead. The dress is gorgeous. 4.6
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad. 4.8 Love the details!
Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes both in Burberry. I love it. They look great together. 5!
Lily Collins in Chanel Haute Couture. Olive is so underrated. 4.69
Rachel Zoe in Marc Jacobs. I wish this didn’t look like mustard so much. 3.8
Kristen Bell in Diane Von Furstenberg. This gives Kristen’s body a very weird shape. She should have opted for a more colorful mini. 3
Emma Roberts in Marni. 5! This is a much better look for her this year than last year.
Blake Lively in Marchesa. Blake, did you get a stylist yet? Who approved of this? I am scared for you.
Melissa George in J. Mendel – 4
Rosario Dawson w/ Giambattista Valli in his design. Not exactly my favorite, the bow looks like eyes? 3
Kristen Stewart in Chanel Haute Couture Why do you always look so angry!! I’ll pass on this. 2 and that’s being generous for effort.
Katy Perry in CuteCircuit. This dress lights up. I can appreciate her unique style. 3.4
Renee Zellweger in Caroline Herrera 4.4
