Review: Skillet Diner

After weeks of anticipation, I finally made my way over to the new Skillet Diner on Capitol Hill! I had been reading about the restaurant for quite some time now on Capitol Hill Seattle and was waiting until I would finally get a chance to try it out myself. The new diner, having only been opened for just a couple of weeks, was booming with customers with a line that went out the door. Luckily for us, it was a nice day in Seattle this evening. My friends and I sat at the bar, which we didn’t mind too much and were promptly served our waters in cute little jars!

I pretty much wanted to try everything off of the menu, but decided on the weekly special – Monday Meatloaf. I’m not sure if there is any coincidence in this or not, but my selection may have had something to do with watching Wedding Crashers the night before.

I typically never order meatloaf when I eat out, but it just reminded me of a home-cooked meal and that was exactly what I wanted. Not as good as mom’s, but better than I could have ever made it myself. Skillet is a beautiful diner and the fact that they are always so full of customers is a great indication that they are here to stay for what I hope will be a very long time! I think if I could change anything, it would probably be to have ice with my water or a little bit faster service – but I know that can’t always be helped sometimes. Other than that, I’m pretty much smitten w/ Skillet and can’t wait to come back to try their Chicken Pot Pie and their selection of desserts.
