How to Have Fun at a wedding reception when you know nobody

As excited as I am to attend my first “friend’s” wedding next month, I am mentally preparing myself for not knowing anyone there. In reality, I’m sure I’ll know a handful, but let’s pretend I don’t. Aside from my guest, I will not know anyone at my table. All small talk conversations will begin on the first level of getting to know someone.

“So how do you know…?”

“Where do you go to school?”

“Are you from around here?”

There will be several awkward moments naturally. I will play the “put the people at my table into categories” game – probably by myself. Not even sure what those categories will be yet, but I’m sure they will find their way on the night of the event. Luckily for me, I found the best article this past weekend called “Things To Do At A Wedding Reception When You Don’t Know Anyone.” How these coincidences happen to find me, I will never know.

I will also be having a practice run at a wedding later on this month in which I will not know a single person… (if you know what I mean.)

Wish me luck!
