Music Video Genome

Music Video Genome is basically the Pandora of music videos. Creator Casey Pugh apparently designed this service within a weekend and now it has gone live. Remember when music videos used to be something to care about? Well MTV has pretty much forgotten about that and has shifted their focus to just television shows. Back in the day, I used to love shows like Making the Video or the series that just showed music video after music video for about an hour or two. It was the way nine-year old me started my routine in the morning before school. These days, music videos are still being made, but there’s not exactly a main outlet for people to watch them except on YouTube. Plus, that doesn’t always work out so well as we’ve noticed from my failed attempts at “Song of the Day.” Sometimes what I think will be the music video will just be the track in the background of a bunch of awkward images of the artist or the music video can only be played from the direct page.

I have to commend Pugh for bringing something back that I once enjoyed though. After you type in the artist that you want to see you will be taken to one of their music videos and the arrows after that will lead you on a stream of other music videos from similar artists that you might enjoy. Try it out here.
