I was introduced to Demi Lovato as both an actress and a singer at the same time when I came across the Disney short series, As the Bell Rings, a few years back. One of her first albums “Here We Go Again” was the soundtrack to my summer just two years ago and even though I was older than the Disney stars then, I was still a fan of hers. If you think about it, it’s no different than girls I know who are Beliebers.
Earlier this year, she suffered from a breakdown for which she received treatment for her eating disorders, depression and bi-polar disorder and now she’s back – stronger and healthier than ever before. Many musicians that have gone through similar ordeals were unable to bounce back, but her comeback has proven otherwise. I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant to hear her new album Unbroken especially when I noticed that some of her tracks were titled “You’re My Only Shorty” and “My Love Like a Star,” but believe it or not – I’ve found some tracks to love out of the bunch.
I even caught a snippet today of Demi Lovato’s interview w/ Ellen about her dedication to being a role model for young girls, which I found to be inspiring. When I was growing up, my friends and I didn’t go through the same struggles that many girls today are facing and I think that Demi – having gone through these experiences – has the ability to be that strong icon for young girls especially during a time when it is so crucial.
With that, here are my favorite songs from the album:
- All Night Long ft. Missy Elliott and Timbaland
- Together ft. Jason Derulo
- Fix a Heart
- Hold Up
- Give Your Heart a Break
- For the Love of a Daughter
Your Song of the Day is All Night Long! Now you’ve got something to dance around to when you get ready in the morning. Guys…I’ll try and think of something else for you in the meantime.
