It has taken me years to try and remember the name of what used to be my favorite show as a kid.
The clues that I could recall:
- A kid’s game show
- A woman for a host – I thought her name was Siouxa Siouxa
- There was a Barbie doll made for her
Unluckily for me, Wikipedia was shut down today for protesting SOPA/PIPA so instead of going straight there for the answer to my question, I had to do a lot extra digging.
Now having found this video, I realize there are so many things that I didn’t notice as a kid.
First off, Xuxa is the host’s name and she was Brazilian! In addition to hosting the show, Xuxa was a singer and sang the theme song. Also her co-host happens to be someone in a panda costume named Jelly the Panda. Um wut?
It has been 18 years since I last watched this television show and it’s amusing to me now that I used to believe that these were the most entertaining 30 minutes of my day. Did any of you guys watch this show? I hope it wasn’t just me!
Hello, I am from Brazil and I has raised watching Xuxa. She started her kid’s show in brazil in 1986 and became a HUUUUGE SUCESS. Kids were crazy for her and she became so popular that she started doing show in other languages. I heard that her show in USA did not work so well because her english was not perfect and also because the press started to say that she was a porn star in Brazil(wich is a lie). Also, in Brazil Xuxa used to kiss the kids in the cheeks(nothing sexual at all), but here, parents didn’t like this. She was the first to create this type of show for kids, with games, music, cartoon etc. In her brazilian show, she he had a space ship that would bring her to the stage, and kids at that time really used to think that was real.You should look on youtube for XOU DA XUXA
