Pop-Up Hotel: Shipping Containers

photo cred | Sleeping Around

Designed by Sleeping Around, this pop-up hotel is truly one of a kind. These shipping containers – turned hotels for the night can’t be found with an address, but instead by GPS. Currently, this hotel is overlooking Antwerp’s riverfront, but don’t expect it to always be there. This shipping container is a traveler and you never really know where it will go next.

So what’s the purpose for a traveling hotel?

In some cases, it can be a way to give travelers a way to experience a unique corner of a city without the ecological (or literal) footprint of a standard new building. For events, like music festivals, that bring hundreds or thousands of people to an area for just a few days, a pop-up hotel can provide an alternative place to stay.

I am LOVING this unique idea. I don’t have too many friends abroad right now except for my friend Samantha in London, but I hope at least someone I know or someone I find in the blogosphere will have tried this out.
