J. Crew Introduces Size 000

I know what you’re thinking. Any time any news is released about smaller sizes being released or models looking even more thin than they really should, everyone starts getting uncomfortable. I’ll admit, I’m one of those people. But I’m also in that same boat as the people that wear a 00 in jeans and an xxsmall in tops because that’s just what fits. People think it’s unrealistic for others to be this tiny, but it’s totally a reality. The only time it should be considered unhealthy is when someone who is not naturally this way hurts themselves to become a size 00.

J. Crew announced today that they were releasing a new size to their roster – 000 – to satisfy their customers in Asia. J. Crew’s sizes typically run a little larger so there is an entire demographic of people who are unable to wear their clothing.

A spokeswoman told Today.com, “We are simply addressing the demand coming from Asia for smaller sizes than what we had carried. Our sizes typically run big and the Asia market tends to run small… To further put into perspective, these sizes add up to the smallest possible percentage of our overall sizing assortment.” She noted the brand aims to “accommodate as many customers as possible… [It’s] all based on customer demand.”

Looking forward to my first pair of J. Crew jeans!
