Five Favorite Pins: The Great Outdoors

I am very fortunate that where I live has a pretty decent set up of a hot tub, grill, pool, and outdoor fireplace for community use and even more fortunate that I have my own personal balcony. I haven’t had any parties here yet, but every weekend I catch my neighbors throwing events and wonder someday if I’m ever going to do the same. I’ve even found myself looking online (mostly to a site similar to http://remarkablefurniture.com.au/) at outdoor furniture and subconsciously plan where each piece of furniture would go. Last weekend, Ashley mentioned to me that I should take the initiative and throw one myself. I’m still thinking about it and probably won’t make up my mind until the last minute.

But that got me to thinking. I have a great space now, but the type of party I want to throw down the line will hopefully be in my own backyard and won’t have to be shared with “the community.” I have been starting to plan what sort of things I’d want in my backyard and have been getting some inspiration from Pinterest. Because I would want to use it as an entertaining space, some things are essential; seating, tables and speakers in particular. I love these rock speakers as they would blend in really naturally and would be awesome for parties. Generally speaking, I like the rustic look, with large chunky wooden seats or pallet furniture. I also really like the idea behind having one of these she sheds so that I have my own little space to go and hide in so that I can lose myself in a book or something. It would also be useful for entertaining, as you could keep the food and drinks in there.

I’m really looking forward to when the day comes that I can have my own private backyard party and I’ll sort of get a taste for that when I throw a party at my co-worker’s place at the end of the summer. Here’s some inspiration for now on some of my favorite backyard spaces!

Oh boy, two levels.

[House and Home]

The family that gets to call this backyard a part of their home uses their cedar backdrop for plays and a screen for projecting movies. It’s no surprise that this home belongs to an architect!

[Nicole Franzen]

We couldn’t NOT feature a pool. I love how everything about this looks so clean and simple. It just goes to show that you don’t have to go over the top with decorating your backyard and it will look pretty perfect with just a few classic pieces of furniture. I was looking in a shop that sold outdoor furniture in myrtle beach the other day, and it’s surprising how much choice there is when it comes to furniture styles. Whether you want wood, metal, or plastic, there are so many options when it comes to outdoor furniture. Shop around and find something you love!

Lastly, I just wanted to highlight comfort. I am such a sucker for outdoor sectionals like this one featured above. It’s a great piece for entertaining guests and a fantastic spot in the summer to enjoy after a meal. Don’t forget the extra pillows!
