Love / Make 2015

Last Sunday, Mandi and I had a total girls day by attending The Bold Italic’s Love / Make event. It’s basically a hipster wedding expo and from the minute we stepped foot into Terra Gallery in SOMA, we were in love. This may have also been because when we arrived, we were told that we were receiving two free drink tickets!

Earlier in the week, Mandi and I had made plans to get together, but weren’t quite set on the plans yet. When I had heard about Love / Make, I immediately texted her and we had a brief conversation about it:

Me: There’s a wedding expo on Sunday

Her: I know! The Bold Italic.

Me: I mean…we could go

Her: I mean would it be weird…? Becuase like we should if it’s not… We could go for Yow Yow, but really for us.

Me: haha we could go for Yow Yow

Her: Omg let’s go. Who are we kidding?

We quickly learned after being there that it is just a little bit weird to go when someone is not engaged. So it made sense for me to assume the blogger role and for Mandi to be the “engaged” one. The best part of the whole day was people asking Mandi questions about her future wedding and her responding on the spot with answers like “I just got engaged last month” and “We haven’t thought about the wedding too much yet” completely nonchalantly. It might’ve been a dead giveaway that we were lying, but we don’t care! For just $20, Mandi and I had the time of our lives sipping on delicious cocktails, sampling ahi tuna poke appetizers and desserts (including the best wedding cake I’ve ever tasted in my life!) and taking endless pictures in not one, but two photobooths.

These desserts from I Dream of Cookies were just too pretty for us to eat. I couldn’t.

I was in greeting card heaven at Love / Make. There were so many talented people at the event. Mandi and I both received two greeting cards in our goodie bags and I can’t wait to surprise a friend with it someday because they are so stinkin’ quirky.

Our biggest regret was not being able to make our very own flower crowns! Honestly, we only wanted to make them so that we could bring them into a photo booth with us because what else would we do with them? Everyone at the event had made one though and we were both experiencing some serious FOMO. It was clearly a very popular station because we had to put our names down and they texted us nearly an hour and a half later to come make a crown. By that time, the event was over.

Just a random vendor’s station of props for the big day that you can rent for your wedding.

Mandi and I had the best time and we’re so looking forward to attending next year! I’m still perusing through my bag as we speak and I’m looking forward to showcasing some of my favorite vendors from the event in posts this week.
