Lately: In April

I used to love my “The Weekend: 5 Things” post (or was it “5 Things: The Weekend?”) I always got this mixed up! Lately, things have been picking up for me with work, trying to create more original content for Yow Yow! and really just enjoying my life here in the Bay Area that we haven’t been able to do these posts as often. So I’ve decided at the end of the month, we’ll just do a roundup! Some of the pictures will be from my Instagram and a few others will be photos that didn’t make the Instagram cut, but that I still wanted to include.

At the beginning of the month, Mandi and I had a girlfriends date together where we brunched and took a stroll around Hayes Valley. We ended up at the most perfect sweets shop and had to get a photo of their jars with their wallpaper.

Since Kevin’s visit, I have been obsessed with this Taiwanese bakery called 85 Degrees C. It’s a pretty big deal in Southern California, but this one in San Jose gets pretty packed too and I’ve been making it out here on a weekly basis mostly picking up an iced sea salt coffee for myself, but sometimes picking up a box full of pastries to bring back to work for my co-workers.

We’ve always had themes for our “Hack Weeks,” but we took this past month’s theme a little bit further and it was all sorts of pretty.

And after months of saying that I would return to climbing, I finally did! It has been maybe almost a year since the last time I’ve climbed, but I’ve already gone two weeks in a row now and am feeling much stronger than I did before! v. exciting.

Cafe Borrone is my FAVORITE brunch spot in Menlo Park. Diana and I went HARD for brunch a couple of weeks ago spending upwards of about $60, but it was so worth it and so so good. In case you’re wondering what my usual order is… It’s a scamble #4 with salsa, sour cream, and avocado, a side of chicken apple sausage, cinnamon raisin toast bread, orange juice, and a chai tea latte. Typically I’ll order a half order of waffles or french toast to share with my brunch buddy and this time we got the spiced apple.
