To Dads all around the world – thank you for doing you.
For as long as I’ve known, Father’s Day has always been a very special day for my family and I and consists of a very cherished tradition that is near and dear to my heart. To celebrate the day, here are two things that I would like to dedicate to the father of the daughter (that’s me!) running this blog.
This Canadian Father’s Day commercial for Oreos. Yum.
And this new jam by my favorite Mayer Hawthorne called “Reach Out Richard.” My dad’s name isn’t Richard, but this is most definitely a song that he can get down to.
My favorite girl group has finally released their first single and it’s totally a girl anthem. Throwback Kelly Clarkson, anyone?
Like I did.
Kimye had their baby today! E! is reporting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcomed their daughter today. There is no word yet on what they have named her, but her first name will start with a “K.” Both mother and baby are healthy.
So…when is this special airing on E! again? Did Kim pull a Kourtney and pull out her own child out like she did with Penelope and Mason?
Only Keeping Up With the Kardashians will be able to reveal it to us.

So hip. I didn’t really see that dance-off coming, but it was a pleasant surprise.
It’s here it’s here! Capitol Cider has finally opened in Capitol Hill and I couldn’t be more excited. Actually I was just excited at the first mention of it, but now it’s open and I cannot wait to make my visit next week. I actually walked by it last weekend and saw some people coming out of it, but I can only assume it was just a soft opening. Capitol Cider, located at 818 E Pike, has a 30-tap lineup and has a balance of great beers and various ciders (uh the only reason why I’d be going there in the first place) Also, if you’d like to dine there, their kitchen is completely gluten-free. How very Seattle of us!
I always love hearing news of bars and restaurants popping up because if you haven’t noticed, it’s getting a little crowded on the hill these days! Hmm. I wonder why. I miss the days when I would just walk over to my favorite spot with friends in leggings and a sweatshirt and call it good. I know there’s a saying that you can never be too over dressed, but that’s not true. You can definitely be too over dressed for Capitol Hill – so take it down a notch, will ya?!

Yesterday the team behind the Sasquatch music festival announced that they would be expanding! Instead of just conquering Memorial Day Weekend, they will now be having another Sasquatch fest during the weekend of the 4th of July. Can we even call it Sasquatch part 2 though? After all, it’s a completely different lineup. Initially, I thought that most people would find this to be good news, but so far, all of my friends have been disappointed about it. However, I have taken on a completely different standpoint having been in the shoes of a booker previously – and that is that this is going to pose some serious problems for the Capitol Hill Block Party. I’m not sure if these planners are friends with each other – I like to assume “yes” because that’s just how it is in Seattle music, but having two different festivals in the same month is going to bring up the issue of blackouts. ie) if one band plays at one music festival, they may not be able to perform in the area for a month or two for fear of taking audiences away from the event they are throwing. Basically Sasquatch and Capitol Hill Block Party are going to have to battle to the death for the bands they want.
For attendees, their concerns revolve around when these two lineups are going to be announced. Will it be at the same time? If so, that would be ideal so that they can choose which weekend they would rather attend. If not, that’s just going to be a bummer.
TOUCHY FEELY is a closely observed examination of a family whose delicate psychic balance suddenly unravels. Abby (Rosemarie DeWitt), is a sought after massage therapist and a free spirit, while her brother Paul (Josh Pais) thrives on routine and convention, running a flagging dental practice and co-dependently enlisting the assistance of his emotionally stunted daughter Jenny (Ellen Page). Suddenly, transformation touches everyone. Abby develops an uncontrollable aversion to bodily contact, which not only makes her occupation impossible but severely hinders the passionate love life between her and her boyfriend (Scoot McNairy).

Have we had enough music here on Yow Yow! for the day? Of course not. To jump start you all into your weekend, check out this new “Here Comes Summer” mix by Ryan Dusheiko for GrandLife hotels based out of New York City. It’s really just the perfect soundtrack for any summer party you might be throwing.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Earlier this week, Veronica and I attended the Warby Parker celebration here in Seattle, but unfortunately I didn’t get a photo of all the sliders we ate! Here they are above along with other quality photographs from the event here.
Be sure to visit the Warby Parker bus while it is here in Seattle until July 7th. The bus is operating Wednesday-Sunday 11AM-7PM on 2nd and Pine.

Robert Downey Jr. does his best to comfort Iron Man’s biggest fan 1 and 1/2 year old Jaxson Denno when the kid finds out that the man in front of him is not his favorite super hero.
If only Robert had been wearing his costume, maybe things could have been different…
