Yow Yow’s Top 10 Posts of 2018

This is one of the posts that gives me a little bit of anxiety to write every year. I don’t check up on how my posts are doing throughout the year so when I get to this point, I’m nervous about what I find. Usually, it’s nothing too scary, but it is a bit of a surprise to see which posts rise to the top. Amongst the group this year, it seems like we were pretty fashion heavy! I don’t mind it, but it’s vastly different from last year where we talking about more challenging moments in my life and being more vulnerable.

What that says about 2018 is that we were a bit more stable and the data isn’t wrong. My biggest life moment this year was just changing jobs and while it was tough at first, it was the easiest transition out of all of my jobs that I’ve held. We even cushioned it with a bit of a break which was my ultimate blessing of 2018 honestly.

Reflective

Sunglasses – Quay / Turtleneck – Aritzia / Denim – Levi’s / Sneakers – Nike

I’m now a woman in my late-20’s living in San Francisco and I love to run errands on the weekend. When I was living in South Bay, my car was my best friend. I would bop around to Santa Clara, Cupertino, Mountain View, and Palo Alto for all the things that I needed. The only weekends when I don’t have errands are when I’m traveling. In the city, I’m using my car less and running errands by foot. My weekend uniform tends to be different from what I wear on the weekdays. For one, it’s darker. On top of that, it just is more functional. I feel like what I’m wearing allows me to be more flexible and there’s room to stretch – especially in my Nike Flyknits. I love how this outfit makes me feel stealth. These are my usual staples, but Winny was in town this weekend that we took the photo and these are her Quay sunglasses for that added pop of color!

Fall 2017 – Favorite Picks from Aritzia

Rains Jacket – $125

Don’t worry, we’re still trying to enjoy as much of the summer as we can and for those that live in San Francisco, you know it isn’t very long. The changing of the seasons is always so exciting for me though! I’m very fortunate that I’ve lived in areas that experience all four of them. Imagine if you had to wear the same wardrobe year round? The swapping in and out is really the best part, wouldn’t you agree?

If I could shop at one place for the rest of my life, it would be Aritzia. I have a good relationship with the retailer and even more so with the ladies down at The Valley Fair shopping mall! S/O to the ones that always bring me the best pieces that I always end up buying. <3

As we head into fall, I’m already thinking about how to revamp my wardrobe especially one that is appropriate for the girl now living back in the city again. Here are my favorite picks, but don’t be alarmed – some of them aren’t just “fall” specific.

Dress and hat – Aritzia / Sweater – borrowed / Tights – Free People / Booties – Munro (Nordstrom)

I’d be lying to you if I said every day I woke up in the morning 100% knowing what I was going to wear and was completely satisfied with it. 85% of the time I plan my outfits the night before, but I still have those days where I might spend 90 minutes trying on 5 different outfits before I leave the house. Even then, I’m still not okay with it. This was one of those days where I felt a little bit uninspired and decided to borrow my friend and coworker’s cardigan. Sandy is also my photographer most days! I really love the contrast in these two photos though because as many of you know, I wasn’t always super comfortable being in front of the camera – throwback to that space helmet that we loved so much in college and always had over my head. That’s why this photo below is still funny to be because clearly, I still am very bashful about this thing that we’re doing!

Sutro Baths

Scarf – Aritzia / Black pants – Uniqlo / Sandals – Moorea Seal (Seattle boutique)

After I returned from Seattle, my co-worker and dearest friend Alex and I spent a weekend afternoon adventuring over to Sutro Baths! We both had never been before and knew that it would be a great opportunity for some Instagrams (it was!) The hike itself to Sutro Baths is something like a mile or two, but him and I haven’t been regularly active so I was completely out of breath when we reached the top of the stairs again. This place is fantastic though and SO PRETTY! It also smells disgusting, but what I’ve found is that similar places to these typically do all smell the same and it’s gross. This diamond scarf from Aritzia is one of my favorite pieces and because June-August in San Francisco tend to be more cold – the scarf was the perfect cover-up.

Channeling Witchy Vibes

Black t-shirt dress / Aritzia

I know what you’re thinking… doesn’t this look familiar? I actually just posted about this dress two days ago because I just bought it and I’m already in love. Honestly though, every time I buy new clothes, I can’t help but wear it the next day. I still remember going shopping for new clothes right before school started and every year having to leave them in my closet without wearing them until the first week was absolute torture. I understand why we waited back then because I could have easily gotten a stain or made a rip or tear, but it’s funny how when you’re an adult, that stuff doesn’t matter. Nothing a Tide-to-go can’t fix, right? I love this dress and can’t wait to wear it forever and forever. My co-workers are developing a sense of humor these days and pointing out to me every time they see me wearing all black. I guess when you do it two days in a row, it becomes your thing.

Favorites of 2014

Favorite Style Icon: Lily Aldridge

Lily is a style icon both on the runway and on the red carpet. This year, we really got to see her show up at a lot of events dressed to perfection. She was featured in our “Snaps for a Snapshots” several times in 2014 so even by the numbers alone, she beats everyone else. We’re looking forward to seeing more of her in 2015 and someday taking over the head angel slot when Adriana and Alessandra retire.

Runner up: Jamie Chung

Proud Owner:

Aritzia Wilfred Sabine Dress

It’s been awhile since I’ve done some personal retail therapy, but you know what? After this week, I damn well deserved it. Yes, it’s still February and winter and cold, but spring is around the corner. There’s no reason why I can’t start it earlier. The best part about this dress also is that you can tie it several different ways. HELLO VERSATILITY! Those types of pieces are always my favorite. It’s the perfect dress to wear for a blogging event (maybe my next one) or even a night out! At Aritzia, I paired it with a long cream cardigan and my brown boots and made it totally casual.

Let’s just say I am more than a little excited about my new purchase.
