What To Wear: Valentine’s Day

Camilla and Marc Adaptation Dress – $509.06

Happy month of love y’all! The big day is just around the corner and whether or not you’re expecting something or just letting yourself go and enjoying the moment, Valentine’s Day is a day where you should feel good about the way you look and for your significant other or whatever they call them these days. Typically, I prefer the red family – pink, coral, light red, etc. only because I don’t LOVE the color red. However, we’re gonna diverge a bit. Here are some of my favorite picks so if you don’t have anything special to wear yet, I guess you had better get on it…

Wants: The Day-to-Evening Blouse

Lately, I’ve found myself to be in a slight dilemma. Hi! I’m living a double life! Not really, but I’ve got a day job and a night job (this one!) and that makes things difficult sometimes. Last week, I had two events that I was attending after work which meant that I needed to have outfits that would translate well in the office as well as for where I was headed to in the evening. Turns out, I don’t have a lot of those outfits so now I’m on the hunt – the hunt for something very specific. The appropriate day-to-night blouses!

Let’s go shopping y’all!

Zara Printed Blouse – $59.90

Prom Dresses For The Classy High School Students

With shows like Dancing with the Stars and outrageous red carpet gowns, it is no surprise that school administrators have been cracking down on the dress codes recently. Schools districts all over the country have gone as far as creating a guide for their students informing them what types of dresses are banned from their formal dance. The times have definitely changed since I was a high school student because this was never an issue for my peers.

However, from a young girl’s perspective – I get it. Short is sexy. Cutouts are intriguing. See-through gowns are mysterious…maybe? But there’s a difference. You can incorporate trends without being over the top and can ere on the side of classy over trashy. You may think that the only way to be fashion forward is to be sexy, but you’re going to Prom to wear a beautiful dress and to have an incredible time with your friends and your date. The sexiest thing about a someone at Prom is confidence and you don’t need a dress to do that for you. Here are some of my favorite picks for the season:

Ring In The New Year With These Dresses

Anytime alcohol is combined with evening wear, there is a chance of something going wrong. Your biggest concern should not be what you will be wearing the night of New Year’s Eve, but it should be to make sure that the dress is intact and shines throughout the entire night. We all know my personal stance on how alcohol can ruin a decent dress by making you look like a mess so I hope all of you will keep that in mind when you go out this holiday. And remember, the best accessory to wear with your dress is your confidence. A classy lady who knows how to have a good time without being too schwasted is a girl that will turn heads.

It takes a little bit more work and time to put “The Closest” post together like this, but at least it’s more organized. Do you prefer this style over the old one?

The Last Fall Ball

There is no better way to go out than to have your last Fall Ball at the beautiful Seattle Art Museum. Attending Fall Ball has always been a special memory for me ever since I was a wee little freshman and since then my experience with Fall Ball every year has differed significantly. As a freshman, I had one of the best times ever with my five girlfriends. In my sophomore year, I became Fall Ball Chair. In my junior year, I selected the venue for it and in my senior year I straight up just worked it. I’ve learned a lot of lessons throughout the years, but the one vital thing I learned came from Kevin E.

“A girl that walks into Fall Ball inebriated no longer has a great looking dress on. Instead, she is making that dress look 10x worse because of her intoxication.”

Okay, he probably didn’t say it like that, but it was close enough. And it makes perfect sense. I can’t tell you how many dresses I saw ruined last night because a girl was sloppy. When girls are drunk, they have no idea that their dress is shifted to one side, that their body-con dress is now up to their crotch region or that their liquid eyeliner is smeared ALL OVER their face. I’m really glad that wasn’t me last night because I made this dress look damn good. And that is all I have to say about that.

Thank you so much to everyone that came out last night! We hope you had a great time. Thank you also to the wonderful staff at the SAM as well as the security and the lovely staff that I got to work alongside with.

UPDATE: Also a very special thank you to Stefani my plus one for the night. Thank you for bringing me the lovely rose. Though I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with all my friends, it meant the world to me to see you all dressed up and dropping in to say hi to me, asking me how I was doing, or even offering to help me (I’m talking about you Mathew Lane) as well as those that did help me prior (Jodie Dodie.) I’ve got some great people in my life :)

Lily Collins for ASOS and InStyle

Lily Collins looks absolutely stunning in her feature for ASOS and in her InStyle outtakes. Lily, the daughter of musician Phil Collins, has been working hard these past few years to build up her career in Hollywood first starting out as a correspondent for Nickelodeon at 18 and then moving to the big screen as Sandra Bullock’s daughter in The Blind Side. Next, we’ll be able to catch Lily alongside Taylor Lautner in their new action thriller flick Abduction.
