There are so many pretty parts to San Francisco, but the Bay Bridge lit up is definitely near the top of the list. I remember when I used to have this view on a weekly basis and how much I a) loved it and b) took it for granted when it was no longer a constant. It is absolutely gorgeous. This coming Friday, however, the lights from the world’s largest LED light sculpture will come down as there was only a contract for a 2-year display.

People loved the Bay Lights so much, though, that the nonprofit organization behind it, Illuminate The Arts, managed to raise $4 million to make the exhibit a permanent fixture.

The 25,000 LEDs will come down so Caltrans can perform maintenance on the bridge cables. They’re planning on having them back up by February 2016, though, just in time for Super Bowl 50.

We’re so sad to see them go, but time flies and as long as they’ll be back, we won’t pout about it.
