Boutiques.Com

This past week, Google began their venture  in the direction of fashion for their newest project Boutiques.com. I was a little nervous at first when I heard about the idea because I thought, “What could a search engine possibly have in common with the fashion industry?” A lot, actually. Boutiques.com is still in beta mode, but it has created a great deal of positive buzz ever since its release Wednesday. Think of Boutiques as a closet belonging to your favorite celebrity, designer, or blogger. For example, in Olivia Palermo’s boutique, you will find an array of pieces that she would wear herself from a variety of brands and designers including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Oscar de la Renta, and Alexander Wang. If you’re inspired by any one celebrity, blogger, or designer’s style, you will be able to find items they love or items inspired by their look fast and easy.

I think my favorite part about this whole idea is that the style icons themselves have put together their boutiques on their own. Users are also able to participate interactively with the website by creating their very own boutique.
