Coachella 2014 Street Style

Coachella is the music festival that defined music festival fashion. Even though it is two weekends this year, we are only covering our favorite looks from just one weekend. I scanned several of my favorite fashion blogs to pick up these looks and here are the ones that stood out the most:

Performance of the Day

[youtube=http://youtu.be/AotvfencFY0]

I did a poor job of streaming Coachella this year and missed every single performance. I’m very grateful that some of my favorite artists on Twitter are reposting some of their performances though so that I can play catch up. This Disclosure x Sam Smith performance of “Latch” is a song that I never get tired of.

OutKast to Tour 40+ Music Festivals

Coachella confirmed last week that OutKast would be reuniting for the major music festival, but don’t worry if you didn’t snag your tickets because you’ll be able to catch OutKast at 40 other music festivals this year. We just know that one of them will be Sasquatch or Bumbershoot or BOTH! The special music festival tour is to “to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their unique and influential sound”.

Specific dates have yet to be released, but it’s only a matter of time before all of our favorite music festivals begin unveiling their lineups. If your city doesn’t have a major music festival in it, it’s likely that they will have some random cities sprinkled in as well.

I saw Big Boi at Bumbershoot in 2011 and all I was hoping for was Andre 3000 to come out and surprise everyone on stage. That never happened, unfortunately, but now I know it’s really not too late!

Coachella Lineup 2014

I feel like I’ve let everyone down by being nearly a day late on posting this, but better late than never. Coachella’s lineup is amazing, isn’t it always? Kevin asked me if I had thought about going this year and the answer I gave him was “Well, I always think about going to Coachella every year, but it’s a matter of whether or not I think I have the money for it.” Yes, going to Coachella is probably an amazing experience says everyone that I know that goes every year, but sometimes I think I’m just happy watching it on a stream as well.

Someday, I might just change my tune. I haven’t forgotten that it was my dream goal to make it to every single major music festival in the US for one year yet.

Yow Yow’s Top 10 Posts of 2013

This is a pretty healthy mix that I am happy with. This is probably one of my favorite posts to compile every year because I am always so interested in seeing what readers are drawn to the most. I’m not able to get a whole lot of stats from WordPress or the stats that I mainly need, but I’m so thrilled to know that two of our interview posts were a top read this year. Working with both Hollis and Molly was  such a treat!

  1. Meet: Hollis Wong-Wear (Yes, this too is one of my favorite posts!)
  2. 2013 Golden Globe Awards
  3. 5 Reasons Why I Love the Mariners Bearded Cap
  4. Is Ballard Becoming the Next Capitol Hill?
  5. Emma Watson for GQ UK May
  6. U.S. Map of Highest Paid Public Employees in Each State
  7. 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target
  8. The Names of McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets

OutKast to Reunite in 2014

Hey Ya!

Big Boi and Andre 3000 are back y’all. In 2014, OutKast will reunite for a number of performances across the country – one of which will include headlining Coachella which you just know we’ll be watching either live or streaming. Is there new music in the works? Will anyone else be joining them on stage? We don’t know yet, but it’s only a matter of time. Regardless, we’re pretty happy about this reunion and we’re looking forward to the surprises.

Oh Coachella

Everyone wants to be a musician or in a band, right? And because of that – it is why we have so many bands existing that we have never ever heard over. However, if you’re at Coachella or any other music festival, you wouldn’t be caught dead not knowing who a band was. Jimmy Kimmel caught a handful of liars over at the festival who acted as if they knew the bands that never really existed. What’s worse is that these fake bands have ridiculous names…The Obesity Epidemic? Really?

Coachella: Dream Vs. Reality

Every year when Coachella rolls around, I can’t help but feel a little bit envious over the friends that are actually there basking in the sun and listening to the best acts of the year. It doesn’t help that I’m just at home streaming sets (that aren’t even actually live) from their YouTube channel and avoiding the downpour outside. Life, right? When I think of Coachella, I think of it as the best music festival that I’ve never been to. In comparison, I feel like it’s not even in the same category as Sasquatch, Block Party, or Bumbershoot. Instead, it feels like a dream where bloggers get invited to host parties, camping is not all that awful, and celebrities are EVERYWHERE.

However, maybe I”m wrong. I’ve never been so I don’t know. RYOT News lays it down for us.

Dream: Chicks think they’ll look like fresh goddesses straight out of an Urban Outfitters ad.

Reality: Mud, sweat, and bodily fluids

Coachella From Your Couch

photo cred | Pitchfork

I’ve pretty much come to terms with the fact that I may never attend Coachella. It’s a sad fact, but it’s the sad truth about my bank account. Luckily, I’m not alone. Thankfully, the organizers of the festival understand our woes and have once again allowed Coachella to be streamed live. So um…that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend starting at 3PM on Friday on their YouTube channel. I know it’s not the same experience and that this year I’m not even watching it for research on booking artists and purely just for enjoyment, but it’s music nonetheless and it is simply what I love.
