LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot

[LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot Jennifer Sweatshirt] – $164

Pre-pandemic, you would have had a hard time convincing me to spend my money on active/lounge wear. Even though we’re not spending much time outside of our homes these days, I’m a huge advocate for dressing up at home and that includes pieces that are active/lounge wear. Two brands that I’ve been following closely in the last year have just joined forces and it’s an 80’s party up in here. LoveShackFancy is known for their romantic and girly house dresses. After collaborating with Target in 2020 for a capsule collection, they’re back with a project involving Beach Riot. Though I don’t own any pieces from them, their swimsuits have been on my wish list for years!

Their latest collection together was made for an 80’s child or someone who needs every shade of pink. Here are our favorite pieces!

[LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot [Leah Top] and [Jade Legging] – $108 / $138

[LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot [Leah Top] and [Ayla Legging] – $98 / $128

[LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot Layla Top] – $118

[LoveShackFancy x Beach Riot [Georgia Top] and [Bike Short] – $118 / $118

Janelle Monae x Gap

Janelle Monae joined Gap in celebrating their latest campaign. These types of collaboration happen all of the time and we probably could write about one of these every day. However, in reading a little bit more about why Janelle chose Gap as the brand to work with, I stumbled upon a quote that meant something more to me. This my reason for why I chose to share this collab on Yow Yow!

“Growing up, my family and I would always shop around the holidays. I grew up with working class parents and we didn’t have a lot of money. Or, at least to go and buy super expensive things for myself and my sister. So, one of the things was always a treat for us was when we did get the opportunity to go shopping, one of the stores that was within my family’s spending limit was the Gap.
My sister and I would get to pick out a sweater, some jeans — but usually, it was a sweater. I just remember doing that in middle school. Even when I got old enough to shop for myself and I was working at Blockbuster or FootLocker [in the mall], I’d always stop in Gap. It’s pretty much everywhere, especially around the holiday season.”
While there are many that look forward to the holidays, there are also many that don’t. The holidays can be a tough time for families and it’s not something that we tend to shed a light on. Instead, we focus on the best gifts that we can give each other and how much money we can spend. I used to always look forward to shopping with my family around this time, but my parents definitely taught me how to be frugal and this story that Janelle shared is something that I know not only resonates with me, but as I’m sure, many others. This isn’t an ad, though I love Gap and if you’ve been following my Instagram, you know that it’s my favorite piece from the fall season. Gap is such a wholesome, quality brand and they have helped define holidays for me, but also family.

Getting By With Grayton

In the digital age we live in, it can be easy to turn to our iPhones or our work laptops for something as simple as time. I prefer options that lean on the side of classic and timeless. Wearing my first watch ever, I’m excited to add Grayton to my collection as a day-to-day staple and to style with all of my favorite pieces. Having never worn a watch before in my life, I wasn’t quite sure which style I would gravitate towards. I knew I wanted something that would not only be comfortable, but also true to me. I selected Grayton’s Automatic Watch with White Silver Dial and a Brown Croco Embossed Leather Strap all with rose gold detailing. This beautiful timepiece is one that I know will last with me forever and I’m looking forward to seeing what they come up with next for their collection. Readers, do you like the way I styled this with my outfit? What details do you love in the watches that you own?

Sleepover @ IKEA for the Night

For one night only, IKEA is letting you live out that scene from 500 Days of Summer on August 31, 2014. In a partnership with Airbnb, IKEA is letting the families of three winners stay overnight at their store in Tempe, Sydney. The store has decked out three promotional rooms for this event and while we don’t have any photographs, we know it’s something that most would be thrilled to have the chance at doing. The three themes? Rustic charm, inner city living and modern elegance. So how much does it cost to stay in one of these rooms? 12 Australian dollars.

“Airbnb gives people access to the most unique listings around the world from treehouses to yurts to villas, and now we’re adding Ikea to the list,” Eva Ross, Local Operations Lead at Airbnb Australia, said in a statement. “The experience is sure to thrill any guest.”

There’s one proviso in the fine print: “By entering, you agree to be part of an event that will be covered by the media,” it says. “Oh, and that you will be woken in the morning in a remarkable way. Nothing frightening — we promise!”

The Sill x Madewell

I’m such a huge sucker when it comes to all things decorating my desk. I constantly feel like I have so many ideas for it, but given my role at my workplace, I sometimes feel like I am swimming in papers. Last year, I was given a succulent from my co-worker which didn’t survive. And ever since it died, I’ve been itching to have another one. The Sill is a start-up out of New York that I blogged about back in November and now they’ve gone ahead with a collaboration that is making me love them even more! Working with one of my favorite retailers, Madewell – The Sill has created an exclusive line of planters that I absolutely need to have. If only they could ship it to me…

How great would this look on my desk though? Or even… your desk!

Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

Wowowow. What a year it has been for Yow Yow!

I’m not all that sad to see 2013 go because I am so looking forward to what 2014 has in store for us. 2013 was a big transition year for Yow Yow! Postings became a little bit more consistent because I was no longer in school and it started to become predictable that I would just log on right after work. It’s nice to be able to have a set schedule to be honest. When I was in school, I would post any free moment I had, which was great because maybe sometimes I would be inclined to write a post about something because it was convenient. However, I appreciate now, that I get to wait until the end of the day to sort out my thoughts and to spend some time thinking a little bit more about what I am writing. Yow Yow! has turned 5-years old! It’s hard to believe that this blog has been with me for that long and that some of you have watched me transition, grow, and hopefully write better content in that time. Thank you x 23984298 to everyone who has supported the blog during this time. If I didn’t have that, I may not still be writing today. We know for sure though that Jennie and Ashley have at least helped me keep Wedding Mondays alive.

Phillip Lim For Target

Target is a phenomenal retailer. Every time they announce a new collaboration I am floored and truly believe that they can do no wrong. With a list of both fresh and seasoned designers under their roster, Target is proving that they are the retailer that can be versatile for any kind of shopper. One collaboration that I am excited to talk about today is with Phillip Lim. I’ve been a fan of his collections for years and this isn’t news to any of you because I am always posting about him. His anticipated collection with Target will be released in stores on September 15 with prices ranging from $19.99 to $299.99 for apparel and $19.99 to $59.99 for accessories.

Here are my favorite looks!

Beauty For Breakfast Pt. 10

teenvogue coach

Nobody loves perfume samples more than me. Seriously, no one. I’ve got this little bet with myself going on right now that I can continue collecting these samples and using them interchangeably until I completely run out and have to buy myself a full sized container of one of these samples. Currently I am using five samples, but luckily for me (just in time for the holidays) Teen Vogue has sent me two new samples for Coach Poppy and Coach Poppy Flower. Happy holidays to meeeeee!

I’ve actually got another sample of the Coach Poppy Flower and it is one of my favorite scents! It is both sweet and feminine and just light enough to not feel bogged down or overwhelming. It’s also a perfect scene if you’re looking to feel a little youthful, but not child like or anything like that. I’m going to see how long I can drag this out for.
