Emma Stone has been cast in Spiderman Reboot

Oh yes! We’ve all been waiting to hear this news for a very long time now. Columbia Pictures sent a press release this evening that Emma Stone has been cast as Gwen Stacey in the new Spiderman reboot alongside Andrew Garfield. The film has great potential, but I’m a little nervous just because it was only three years ago that we had the Spiderman movies starring Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Maguire.

MGMT Urged To Change Music Style

If you have taken the time to listen to MGMT’s first and second album Oracular Spectacular and Congratulations, respectively, you will have noticed how different they sound from each other. I remember doing a double take on my iTunes when I previewed Congratulations. All of my expectations or rather predictions had gone out the window. Where were the poppy electronic beatz?!

Even though it wasn’t what I expected, I couldn’t help but think that Andrew and Ben were “stickin’ it to the man!” The man in this case would be their record label. I assumed that what I was hearing on their second album was what they wanted to sound like whereas their first album was made to merely gain a fan base. On numerous occasions, I have expressed my disappointment in new bands changing their music for their sophomore album ie) Paramore. I realize that sometimes it can’t be helped! After all, this is a business. This is what they are doing for a living.

Fans weren’t the only ones who were turned off by Congratulations. The head honchos at their Columbia label have also expressed their opinions about it and have decided to have more control on their next album release. Andrew Van-Wyngarden appears to be taking it well from this statement: “I definitely think our music will change in the future because Congratulations is almost two years old now. We have some ideas and have been talking about possible directions of where to go next.”

I bet they paid him to say that.

The Viper

Can you imagine what life would be like if we had superheros living among us? It’s nice to wonder if that will ever happen after watching movies like Batman or Kick Ass. In Columbia, Tennessee a superhero who calls himself The Viper [dressed exactly like the picture at left] has been spotted. He carries with him the following weapons: two plastic sticks, a wrench, a screwdriver, throwing stars, and what he calls the Viper phone. Apparently, this is the same phone he used when he called The Daily Herald to declare:

I’m just a guy trying to do what’s right, in tights.

Virgin Mobile FreeFest

Yesterday, Virgin Mobile announced that their annual music festival on August 30th this summer in Columbia, Maryland will be absolutely free!

The organization has recognized our country’s economic status and current recession and have decided to not put a fee on these tickets, however Ticketmaster will still charge for ticket delivery unless you decide to pick them up on call.

Instead the festival will be soliciting a $5 donation towards the RE*Generation, an organization that helps homeless youth agencies across the country.

And if I were you, I would donate! You’re only paying $5 to see bands like GIRL TALK, Blink 182, Weezer, Franz Ferdinand, Jet, Taking Back Sunday and MORE.

If I didn’t live on this side of the country, I would be there in a heart beat.
