I love where I live. Capitol Hill is one great neighborhood because it is always so alive. We have a great sense of character here on the hill with our many restaurants, shops, concerts, and community. If you’re a local then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t been here yet, I suggest you take a visit the next time you’re in Seattle. Last week, my old roommate and I took a trip to [surprisingly] a restaurant we had both never been to. It is surprising because ever student has been here since it is literally right next door.
It was the wonderful Cafe Presse. I had heard many great things about this place, but I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew was that it was a little quaint French cafe and that Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard are frequent eaters here. I was in a breakfast for dinner mood that night so I ordered the “Croque Madame.” It was basically a breakfast sandwich (like an egg mcmuffin, but so so much better? – – > Baked ham, gruyere and béchamel sandwich w/ a sunny side up egg on top. It was the perfect meal for dinner time. Apparently, their pomme frites are the best on the hill (even better than Honey Hole’s supposedly). I’d say it was too difficult to determine because they are different, but I did enjoy Cafe Presse’s more.
The interior of the restaurant is awesome! I’ve walked by the place many many times and always thought that it looked small from the outside. Little did I know that there was a second room in the back. It was a hidden gem, but we’re glad we’ve finally found it.
