A Collection Part 44

I think I’ve always loved putting these posts together because these are the types of photos I’ve always wanted to take. They’re so simple and minimalistic, but yet they say so much and they say something different to everyone. I’ve asked Veronica a couple of times now why she enjoys these posts and now that I think about it – I’m not sure if I’ve ever gotten a real answer. Veronica, can you let us know so I can include it in the next post? All I know is that in college she would hound me to get these done and out. And then after she had spent some time scanning over the photos (a few minutes) she’d ask for another one. (DJ Khaled) I think I would always just laugh and say, “Veronica, these take time.” And they do! This one post took about three months to put together.

I’ve done 44 of these now. That’s an incredible number to me. And it’s interesting to me that each one of these tells a different story though I’m not sure what that story is. I look through some of the older “A Collection” posts and sometimes I wonder why I chose a certain photo. I’ll look at it and scrunch up my face and be like, “Why? What did this mean to me?” But I guess what it just means is that it was all about timing. In that exact moment that I saw that photo as I was scanning over lots of photos, that one spoke out enough to me that I had to include it. Maybe I was feeling sassy, meek, contemplative, curious…I’m not able to put my finger on it for every photo and I like that I don’t have to.

Sometimes I write posts on Yow Yow! that are very personal and I look at the words and I question if that’s what I actually wanted to convey or if people will interpret it in a different way than I attended. With these posts, I don’t have to worry as much, but these are just as personal because I’m really saying how I feel, but in the most visual way.

Throwback Friday

We all know Channing Tatum as an actor and we know that before that he was an exotic dancer, but today we are learning something new! Channing Tatum also modeled Diddy’s clothing line on the runway.

I’m never going to forget this. For more hilar, click here.

Diddy Dirty Money

Did anyone else catch last night’s performance of Diddy Dirty Money on Saturday Night Live?

Was it just me or did something(s) just seem off?

1) Really? Another name change?

2) The whole performance was a mixture of a Kanye West performance and trying too hard.

3) Dawn Richards, former member of Danity Kane, is now singing in this group with Diddy.

4) Singers Dawn Richards and Kalenna Harper stole VV Brown’s hairstyle!

There was something so bland about these two performances given last night. Maybe Diddy’s getting too old for this – I don’t know. I’m sure he wouldn’t agree, but he was looking awfully tired throughout the whole thing. The new album comes out December 14th – maybe that will change my mind.

Song of the Day

Dream – This Is Me

Today’s Song of the Day is a throwback! In 2001, girl group Dream became incredibly successful overnight with their hit single “He Loves U Not.” Their first CD “It Was All A Dream” sold millions of records, but then they quickly disappeared off the face of the planet. Diddy, who had discovered them, seemed to have left them behind and spent more time focusing on Danity Kane and his other Making the Band conquests.

I actually bought their first CD, which is where the above song comes from and I thought it was pretty great. Of course at that time I was 10 so what did I know? Though disappointed that they fizzled out, I always wondered where they ended up. By the way sorry for the poor quality.

I would totally watch this show.

Mase is comin’ back y’all!

Michael Jackson’s death has inspired rapper Mase to make his comeback in the music industry. This is…news! I still remember when my brother and I would rap and sing a long to his songs when I was seven years old. No joke.

Before Diddy went through a slew of name changes, way back in the day, Mase was brought in and signed to Diddy’s label where the two of them collaborated on many songs together.

So what will be Mase’s first release in five years? A remix of Drake’s “Best I Ever Had.”
