Remembering Television in 2011…

As some of you may have noticed, there wasn’t so much postage going on this past weekend. The reason for that is because I was recovering, but I also came across a post on Ohnotheydidnt about the television shows that ended this year. One of them – near and dear to my heart – was Greek. After reading that post, the only sensible thing to do was watch an entire marathon of the show starting from episode one throughout the whole weekend. So I didn’t write anything for Yow Yow, but I became reacquainted with a show I once loved and can still relive through NetFlix – thank goodness. It was a weekend well spent.

And now, here’s your second end of the year recap post of shows that I will personally miss.

Greek: July 9, 2007 – March 7, 2011

I was deprived as a college student from the Greek system and the only way for me to feel like I was not missing out on anything was to live vicariously through Casey Cartwright. This show is extremely special to me for reasons I can’t explain. These kids barely did any school work and their entire lives revolved around the Greek system social calendar. Naturally, I was envious. The show has taught me a lot about love and friendship and karmic synergy, but they all couldn’t stay in college forever. At some point, every one of them needed to graduate and it was at that point that I had to let them.

HBO is creating a new half-hour series revolving around four good looking guys living in New York City who are married and juggling their personal and professional lives. Sound familiar? It’s Sex in the City for the male crowd or Entourage without the whole celebrity thing.

Both HBO series have been incredibly successful so I don’t have many doubts about this one, but I’m hoping that it will be more like Sex in the City than Entourage. Male versions of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte – yes please!

Weezer’s new album Hurley will be released on September 14, 2010. The picture above of Hurley from LOST is actually  the album cover. How fitting!  Rivers Cuomo says of the image, “I just loved this photo of Jorge Garcia — it just had this amazing vibe. We didn’t want to do a fourth self-titled record and we knew people would refer to it as ‘the Hurley record’ even if left it without that title, so we just called it ‘Hurley.’ No words are on the cover because all we wanted was his amazing face.” [source]

The UK’s Metropolitan Police has released a new interactive PSA. So far, every PSA from the UK that I have seen continues to be extremely powerful. It’s definitely something that should be here, but isn’t.

Lady Gaga managed to make out with a fan WHILE she was crowd surfing during her performance at Lollapalooza this past weekend. It takes skills to multi-task.

Snaps for a Snapshot

Miss Autumn Reeser!

For some reason, I really like the dress, not so much the cut but I love the color.

Sarah Michelle Gellar makes a comeback in her new HBO show

I chose this picture because Sarah is wearing one of my favorite Herve Leger dresses! Anyways, Sarah is finally making a comeback from her Buffy days. She’s been in a few movies but she’s also been off the radar for some time.

Nate Corddry (Gene on “United States Of Tara“) and Molly Parker (“Deadwood“) will join in as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s siblings in the new HBO pilot “The Wonderful Maladys.”

The comedy is set in New York and will revolve around the dysfunctional lives of the three siblings who had lost their parents at a younger age.

I’m excited to see this! The only show I watch on HBO is Entourage because Tell Me You Love Me got cancelled..
