The boy and I celebrated a very special evening the other night at Ethan Stowell’s Anchovies & Olives in Capitol Hill. I was THIS close to getting him to write a little blurb for Yow Yow! but in the end, he didn’t budge. Even though this is only the second time we’ve been to one of Ethan Stowell’s restaurants together, it is still quite meaningful for us as our first date was at Staple & Fancy in Ballard too. We’ve decided to make it a challenge to hit up all five of his restaurants and next time I’m choosing the latest Rione XIII or How to Cook a Wolf.
This past weekend we ordered:
- Spicy Coppa (to share)
- Ravioli (for him)
- Linguine (for me)
I typically like to do some research on the restaurant I’m eating at before I eat there so from what I had heard on the reviews, the linguine was a must-have. I’d been juggling back and forth all day long what dish I wanted, but I knew I wanted some form of pasta. What I really liked about the pasta was that it was comfort food. After an entire day of non-stop raining in Seattle, that was pretty much all I wanted. However, it was a little bit too buttery and creamy for my taste. As for the ravioli that I sampled from boy – what I liked about this dish was how clean and refreshing it was. The texture of it probably would have settled better with me I think in the end, but regardless, both of us were pretty pleased with our meals. I’ve heard that their Oyster Power Hour is something to try so if I ever decide to return to Anchovies & Olives, it will be for that!
