To promote this year’s Governor’s Ball music festival happening in New York on June 23-24, the organizers have created this new Remix that features every single artist on the lineup. It’s not a mashup, but I think I prefer it this way because it gives me time to appreciate every single artist and band individually. If you haven’t checked out the lineup for yourself yet, you should because this year they are highlighting Beck, Modest Mouse, Passion Pit, Chromeo, Explosions in the Sky, Phantogram, Cults, Santigold…- this lineup is stacked. You can check out the entire lineup here or just listen to the remix above and surprise yourself with it.
The transitions in this track are so smooth, it’s almost close to perfect (if it isn’t already.) The best part about this festival is that if you’re an attendee, you never have to run into the problem of choosing one set over another because the sets don’t overlap AT ALL. You can see everyone you came to see and get your entire money’s worth.

Whatever, man. There’s always some organization that brings up this issue every month. [Source]

As I wind down for the evenings, I generally try to listen to some softer sounds, but who am I kidding? If a jam comes up while I’m reading blog news at midnight, I’m going to listen to it. In this case, I did and I’d do it again because Janelle Monae slays. Earlier this weekend, the talented singer performed on the White House front lawn for the White House Easter and threw in a cover of Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back” into her set. Her back-up band is adorable.
I’m not exactly sure how this lineup got to be Chinese New Year themed. It is kind of lols, but as always the lineup is great so there’s no need to dive into that.
To help raise money for the Seattle Community Law Center, the city’s favorite fundraising music festival, Noise For The Needy, will host a lineup of shows in June. The Seattle Community Law Center is “”a legal aid nonprofit that helps low-income people with disabilitied receive social security benefits.” This year, the lineup with include former Quadstock band, The Thermals, The Duke Spirit and many other local bands that we adore. Last year’s festival alone raised $23,000. It’s so nice to see the city incorporating music in order to do good. Check out the full lineup here. Will any of you be stopping at any shows this year?
Earlier this week, New York resident Zeddie Little, became an internet sensation after this photo was published on Reddit of him participating in the annual Cooper River Bridge Run in Charleston, South Carolina. Just look at the guy! He is simply effortless. No one looks that good running. Ever. So what was it? Is he just blessed with being photogenic? Was it great timing? Nobody knows, but what we do know is that this is one good looking guy and everyone is trying to get to know him.
Aside from everyone knowing his name this week, Zeddie has also been privileged with the opportunity of becoming an internet meme.
The girl certainly knows what works. She generally is drawn towards similar gowns that are flowy and neutral colored for most award shows, but it always seems to work!
Over spring break, Samantha informed me of a website that she keeps tabs on pretty often that focuses mainly on cultural news and events in San Francisco. Just recently, she let slip to me that they have also branched off into a Seattle division as well. 7×7 SEA details what’s going on in the city, highlights an events calendar, and features guides to certain topics. My new favorite this morning? The 7 Best Neighborhoods in Seattle. And why is it on my radar? Because Capitol Hill was named the neighborhood with the Best Eats! That couldn’t be more true.
I’m happy to announce (but also stressed) that 7×7 SEA has now been added to my daily blog roll along with a couple of other websites that I peruse on the daily for my Seattle news including The Stranger blogs, Capitol Hill Seattle, and Seattle Met Blogs.
