What We’re Watching:

Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone! I hope everyone is thoroughly stuffed and completely well-rested! I just spent the last few days in southern California with my relatives and decided to come home right before the weekend because these days I’m always craving more alone time at my home especially having been on the road on/off for the last two months.

As I type, I’m on episode two of the revival. Two things to note, 1) I rarely watch Netflix and by rarely I mean like 2-3 times a year. 2) I didn’t even watch the last 3 seasons or so of Gilmore Girls so I have no idea where they even left off! However, I get fomo so I didn’t want to be one of those people that wasn’t watching the revival, plus Kristie and I talked about it today before I left for my flight so we started episode 1 together.

Who else is watching?! We’ve always loved the mother-daughter pair and of course, I want to see who she ends up with!

Life Unexpected

Tonight was a television premiere night for three new shows. First on the review board is Life Unexpected. Before I start, I would just like to say that I haven’t watched regular television in quite some time. Every Sunday, I watch Tough Love with my girls and Greek when it is in season. I watched the entire season of Glee when I was at home for break. With my schedule, it’s really hard to make time for television, but somehow tonight I managed to free up two and a half hours for this.

I first heard about Life Unexpected a couple months ago. The previews looked decent. I was mostly drawn to the show for Shiri Appleby because  she used to be in one of my favorite shows, Roswell, (once on the WB) back when I was ten.

Synopsis: Lux is a fifteen year old girl on the verge of her sixteenth birthday. She has been in foster care all her life and is now seeking emancipation, but she can’t do that unless she gets her birth parents to sign the papers. Both parents are shocked that she has come into their lives and are young and frazzled. Surprise! What else is new? The judge doesn’t grant her emancipation in court because the girl has no job and no place to live. Clearly she isn’t fit to live on her own so she grants her birth parents joint custody.

My take on the show: I’m really quite interested in it so far. The advertisements say it’s like a Juno meets Gilmore Girls, but it is not. For some reason, I do feel like I have seen a show like this before. Do I think it will survive? It’s hard to say. I would really like it to, but it had better have a more hard hitting second episode, cause the premiere was just a tad bit predictable.

Mondays – 9 PM – The CW

In the News…

– Cancelled show, The Beautiful Life, will return to finish off their season in the summer.

Levi Johnston – the baby daddy of Sarah’s Palin’s daughter – will not be showing his full frontal nudity shot in Playgirl…THANK GOD.

Forever 21 will be debuting their new magazine this Friday. Think H&M style magazines.

– Television writer and producer Amy Sherman-Palladino is trying to make Gilmore Girls into a final movie to wrap up the story lines.

Sony Pictures Television is trying to bring back Charlie’s Angels onto the television screen once again.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will be designing a jewelry collection called the Protector for Asprey, which will all be based on a snake. Not surprised there.

– A Costco store in East Harlem, New York will now be selling discount designer bags. They are completely real, but the discount is probably not the discount you wish it would be.

Burberry’s mini satchel costs $1,019.99. A medium shopper tote by Tod’s is $549.99. The Ferragamo “Marissa” handbag goes for $629.99. And the Chanel bag costs $1,999.

Now, you can buy your purses and food all in the same place.

The Ting Tings have signed with Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation.

Alexis Bledel really hasn’t done anything since Gilmore Girls. And her character in The Sisterhood movies were always kind of blah but this excites me to see her being someone completely different. Plus… I really like her love interest but anyways this looks cute.
