Where Hipsters Live in Major Cities By Yelp

Oh yes, we see you Capitol Hill. Way to represent.

This project by Yelp is actually very interesting and completely tracks the neighborhoods in which hipsters are residing in. Given the map above, I’d say this is pretty accurate.

Top Posts of the Week

With the nice weather out in Seattle, I have been spending less time on  the computer and more time outside and with great company! Obviously by doing that, I have gotten behind on posts for the week. Apologies. Instead of making an individual post for each, we’re doing a roundup and playing catch up!

5 Reasons Why I Love The Mariners Bearded Cap

photo cred | Mariners

1. First off, the beaded cap on kids will be the most endearing thing you’eve ever seen. Just imagine what it looks like to see a 4-year old girl instantly transform into a bearded man. That’s some circus stuff right there.

2. The knitted bearded cap is so warm! I’ve worn it for a total of 6 minutes now and have already had to take it off for fear of becoming too hot in it.

3. It’s so Seattle. Beards. Cap. Mariners. A creation like this is something that would only come from this city.

4. You can instantly hipster-fy your bearded cap by adding a pair of hipster glasses to it. I chose Warby Parker.

5. There is nothing better than going to a Mariners game and seeing a bunch of goofy looking people in a sea of bearded caps! Instant bonding moment.

Bonus Reason: You might be able to sip your beer through the mouth hole…but we haven’t tried this move yet.

A Collection Part 35

It used to take me over six months to go back to a blog that I haven’t visited in a while. With my new routine and schedule and the absence of homework, I am able to get through my blogs a lot quicker which frees up more time for me to be creative and to spend more time on posts that mean a lot to me instead of just posting and being done with it. Most of the photographs in this A Collection post came from one blog and go figure it’s called Thriving Twenties so of course we can relate hence why we love it.

Hipster Dads Like To Read Magazines Too

photo cred | Brooklyn Magazine

If this cover of Kindling Quarterly doesn’t scream hipster cuteness, then I don’t know what does. I would love to run into this piece of art at my local Barnes & Noble and next time, I’ll actually be on the hunt.

And the mission statement?

Kindling Quarterly is an exploration of fatherhood. Through essays, interviews, editorials, art, and photography we highlight creative individuals whose work and lives are inseparable from their role as a parent. There is no shortage of familiar portrayals of dads in media yet we aim to present a thoughtful dialogue about fatherhood that is missing from our cultural landscape. Men who are active caregivers are not a novelty and we do not depict them as such. While the subjects of our stories are fathers, each issue appeals to anyone interested in art, creativity, and community. Kindling Quarterly playfully assesses and celebrates the multitude of experiences that form contemporary fatherhood.”

Loving it.

Yow Yow’s Yearly Recap

4 years. Can you believe it? It’s surreal to me that I’ve kept Yow Yow! going for this long, but at the same time having Yow Yow! is also kind of like my very own personal diary. It’s kind of cool! I get to look back on some bad writing, some bad photos (or photos that are no longer photos) and some really embarrassing moments in history.

At the same time, I’ve also had the opportunity to witness AMAZING things in history. This year, Yow Yow! didn’t change much, but I did. I graduated from college y’all! As a small child, that day seems so far away – light years away! I’ve got my degree. I found myself a big girl job. I fled from Seattle – never thought that would happen either, but it had to someday. 2012 was good to me and 2013 (I hope) will be even better for us – me and Yow Yow!

So let’s get to the numbers, shall we?

Stats from 2011 will be on the right and italicized while stats from 2012 will be left and bold.

750,119 total visits to Yow Yow! – – – – – – – – – – –  1,128,873+ (since the day isn’t over yet and this does not include up until New Year’s Eve) total visits to Yow Yow!

*In just 2012, there were 377,996+ visits to Yow Yow!
