Chinatown Pretty

San Francisco’s Chinatown is like nothing I’ve ever really experienced before. For one, it’s one of my least favorite places to drive through because the streets are so narrow and there are people everywhere – not like Seattle at all. However, you’ll find some of the most authentic dishes at some of the best restaurants that remind me the most of home. I don’t know about you, but if I’m ever looking for Chinese food, it’s definitely not going to be at some fusion-esque place or PF Changs.

I stumbled across this blog last night that proves that SF’s Chinatown offers more than just food, but an array of fashion. Chinatown Pretty highlights the best in head-to-toe looks from the local seniors. So cute, right?

Airport Tee

For how many times I talk about traveling and airports on this blog, I think for this post – we’re just going to skip that entire ramble and go straight to…

Look at how great these tees are. They look like they are probably designed for men more than women, but it’s cool – we support both genders on Yow Yow!

These tees are designed by Pilot and Captain. How fitting! … and lol because we’re sure these are fitted tees too. Did I take this too far?

PARK (ING) Day 2013

photo cred | Holiday Matinee

It’s the last week of summer so make sure you’re spending as much time outdoors as you possibly can! Today just happens to be a great day to be outside because it’s PARK (ING) Day! One day out of the entire year, major cities transform sidewalks to become pop-up parks (if you will.) This year, Seattle will be sprouting parklets for the first time as a part of this movement and I am so incredibly jealous that I can’t be there for it. Parklets first originated and became popular in San Francisco, but the trend has spiraled to cities all over the world. Why is this day so important? It was designed to get people to start thinking about how much public space we dedicate to automobiles and how the space could be used to better foster community.

For the full list of cities participating, click here.

Orange & Park x San Francisco

Call it a cliche, but I have always been such a huge fan of these types of city maps. There are some pretty incredible ones of Seattle that include the text of all the neighborhoods located within that I’ve been wanting to purchase for some time. Orange & Park created these ones for San Francisco which outlines the neighborhoods in the city, but if you visit the website, you’ll find some prints in different designs.

Southern California

While perusing one of my favorite blogs, Holiday Matinee, I came across this photo series by a friend of the blogger’s – Angella d’Avignon. The shots were all taken from Southern California and makes me miss this area so much  especially since I used to visit frequently when I was younger. Here are just a few shots, but check out the photographer’s 50 favorites here.

Now This Is A Business Card

With graduation just around the corner, I’ve been seeking advice from a few people that I look up to – friends, mentors, advisors, and professors on how to approach the job application process. One aspect that I have always been intrigued by is the business card. I’ve only ever had one business card before in my life and it was created on a whim by a friend of mine for four boys that were coming to town that I had a chance to interview for Yow Yow!

However, I would love to have a business card of my own and one that is definitely an attention grabber. Holiday Matinee introduced me to this one above from Jeff Nicholas of creative agency, The Creative Uprising. I’d never heard of the agency or his name before, but as soon as I saw this, I went to their website immediately!

It’s so simple, but yet says so much.
