A Collection Part 28

The current season plays a huge role in these selection of photos this time around. It wasn’t until I finished that I noticed that there was a tinge of earthy colors transitioning from fall into winter. I hope you guys enjoy all of the photos! I also hope that you’ve all had a wonderfully relaxing Thanksgiving holiday.

Modern Day Homes For The Hip Seattle Local

My entire family has a little bit of an obsession for lofts, condos and modern homes in the Seattle area. One of the blogs on my roll is this site called Urbnlivn, which features all of the new spaces that have become available for rent and they will keep you swooning for pages. Someday, I hope to own one of these and the sooner the better!

Cardboard Never Looked So Good

When I left for college, the one thing I was most excited for was being able to decorate my own room – my own space. Growing up, I lived in an imperfect square room with plain white walls. Most of the furniture was handed down and didn’t match. The walls were bare except for one diy project I made using paint chips. It was cute for like…a month. Even then, I was too lazy to take it down and do something else with it. Coming into college though, I was given a blank canvas with who I wanted to be and how I would personalize my space. You know how young girls idolize models and celebrities in magazines? – (at least that’s how many researchers and psychologists will describe it) That was me with home decor blogs. No matter how many inspired ideas I wrote down, I could never get it right. Was that a bad example? What I’m trying to say is that  it’s hard to have a perfect home. It’s not easy to have a perfect anything. I started to feel a little bit better when I came across a home with only cardboard-made furniture though. I was trying too hard, obviously.

Selby for Zara

I get really excited when things I love collaborate together. This short film for Zara shot by Selby wasn’t completely a stretch, but it was unexpected nonetheless. Home decor…fashion – similar realms, yet different at the same time. This charming short film about gallerist Lucy Chadwick is incredibly charming.

Modern Fireplaces

The other night, Veronica introduced me to the “Space Heater,” but I think I’ve found something even better. Meet the Cocoon Terra Fireplace! I love how modern it looks and how eye-catching it is when added to any room. It would definitely beat making s’mores inside the microwave. I need this now.

The Family Portrait Wallpaper

Needs to have this wallpaper in my next home – please. I am loving the endless possibilities that can be created with this design by Lisa Bengtsson. I’m not sure if I could fill an entire home or room with this wallpaper, but one side of a room would be just the perfect amount for an inspiration wall filled of photos and trinkets.

Decor Bug – Moar Please

As soon as we put up my framed Society6 prints today, my head immediately started spinning with new ideas for decorating. All I wanted were more colors, more DIY projects and of course more prints! It didn’t help today that I stumbled upon a blog featuring the French shop La Case de Cousin Paul. The store lets you customize your own garlands of colored light balls, which would make fantastic additions to any room. I’ve already found a space for them…now if I could only learn enough French so that I could order them somehow. They are also decently priced as well. A garland of 20 balls cost only 22 Euros ($30.) Prepare to swoon over the website here.

Check out this blogger’s photos from her visit to the store.

Society6 for Urban Outfitters

Mr. Bears – $15

As you may have remembered, I spent nearly a month searching for the perfect prints to purchase from Society6. After perusing the site day in and day out, I finally set my sights on three that I knew I would cherish forever. I mean – they certainly cost enough for me to. One of my biggest concerns was that I would choose the prints too soon and then miss out on the prints that would appear later on the site, but I had to come to terms that eventually there was always going to be a better print. Sure enough, Society6 has got some new prints up in Urban Outfittersprint shop, and of course – I happen to want all of them. Here are some of my current favorites!

A Collection Part 27

Happy happy middle of October everyone! I hope you’ve all had a lovely and relaxing weekend so far. For the first time in my life yesterday, I spent the afternoon out on a boat in Puget Sound with some wonderful company. Hard to believe that I’ve never actually done that before – clearly I’m not getting the most out of Seattle by living here. There’s no theme to this collection post this time, but it’s been a month since we’ve last seen one and I like this group so much. I’m kind of in this limbo right now of college and the real  world that begins after college (that I thought began at college.) And I’m going to be here for a few months I’m sure so I’ve been attracted to photos recently that involve a single person. That’s really the only explanation I have for that.

Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock Living In Style

I think by now we are all aware of who my favorite style icons are in the fashion industry, but hands down – the title for my favorite couple in the industry belongs to Jeff Halmos and Lisa Mayock. Jeff Halmos is one half of Shipley & Halmos and Lisa Mayock is one half of Vena Cava; both just happen to produce some of my favorite collections! I’ve  had a soft spot for S&H ever since Jeanette and I had the opportunity to meet them last summer and partake in their photography project and I have adored Vena Cava’s since they hosted an online garage sale last summer featuring some of their own personal items. Should have snagged those oversized sunglasses when I had the chance. Together, the two of them are sensational. The couple recently invited The Coveteur into their home and the photographs were so stinkin’ cute, they made my stomach hurt a little bit. When this fashion power couple gets married, they will rule everything. Click here to take a peek inside their adorable home.

Rappers on Minimalist Posters

London illustrator and graphic artist Dale Edwin Murray has been hard at work on his project Hip Hop Heads for some time now, which features notable hip hop artists in a minimalist poster form. The images are simplified and the shapes are geometric, but despite all of that, it’s easy to tell who’s who. Or maybe it isn’t. Think you can guess them all? Click the source for more.

CaptainCat

These two things are not the same, but when I saw the second picture I immediately was reminded of this photo of these two members from The Head and the Heart. The paper-mâché mask in the second picture was actually designed by CaptainCat in a collection of animal masks! Urban Outfitters think they’d make creative (and simple) Halloween costumes. I think they’d make for some great wall art!

— and the price check on the fox mask was $350. Yikes!

Check out more of their line here.
