A Rubber Duck in Hong Kong

How can you even tell me that this doesn’t make you smile just a little ? There’s a rubber duck (an enormous one!) in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour! Conceptual artist Florentijin Hofman created this huge inflatable duck towering in at 46 ft tall and 55 ft long.

The Rubber Duck knows no frontiers, it doesn’t discriminate people and doesn’t have a political connotation. The friendly, floating Rubber Duck has healing properties: it can relieve mondial tensions as well as define them. The rubber duck is soft, friendly and suitable for all ages!

The Rubber Duck will be on display in the harbor through June 9, 2013.

China’s Housing Cubes

The average size of a dorm room is 15×15. While I’m sure many of us used to dread  our student housing situations, I”m sure we haven’t imagined what it is like to downsize. The residents living in Shek Kip Mei Estate, a  public housing project in Hong Kong, call their 10×10 cube spaces home and seem to be content. You would think the residents would resent their so-called home, but instead photographer Michael Wolf has managed to capture all of them with a smile.

One Studio 24 Rooms

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lg9qnWg9kak&feature=player_embedded]

Architect Gary Chang has lived in his apartment in Hong Kong all his life and even grew up there with his family. In Hong Kong, each family is crammed into such a tiny space. His apartment is 330 sq feet. Instead of finding a new place to live, he transformed his apartment using sliding panels connected to his ceiling to create 24 different rooms. To see how he achieves this, watch the video above.

If you thought your place was small, you now have no room to complain.
