Anthony Bourdain on In-N-Out

[youtube=http://youtu.be/R4J1seTHAMU]

Little Big Burger in Portland yesterday. In-N-Out for dinner tonight. If I had a Seattle’s Dick’s Drive In tomorrow, I would have been nailin’ it. No joke though – I love In-N-Out. Can’t believe I went so long not living in the same state as it…

A Collection Part 38

Happy Mid-September everyone!

It’s amazing how quickly this year has flown by. Even though I’m about to embark on my second year out of school, there’s a part of me that still wants to follow suit in that pattern. I started my first job at the start of fall one year ago and now one year later, I’m doing the same thing again. There was something about the new school year that I loved and it wasn’t just that I had a new set of classes, a new wardrobe, or that I was one step closer to starting THIS current life, but it was the idea of starting the year with a fresh slate – wiping everything clean, getting rid of the old and progressing towards the new. That might be one of the reasons why September is considered more of my new year than January. I always like to start Mondays with reflective posts (besides Wedding Mondays!) so here’s A Collection for you 🙂

“Girls’ Weekend” in San Francisco!

7

It isn’t often that I plan a vacation for myself. When I learned recently that my two friends Winny and Jennie were having a getaway to San Francisco this past weekend, I joined the trip last minute! We spent the weekend eating, shopping, exploring, and of course Instagramming our little hearts out. Growing up, I haven’t had too many opportunities to travel with my friends. The last time I did, it was also on a road trip to San Francisco. But it’s moments like these that I really treasure…being able to be an adult in another city. It was also Jennie’s first trip to SF so we were sure to hit all the spots! I feel really lucky to have traveled with these two ladies as they are not only dear friends of mine, but friends that I looked up to while in college. Click the cut for all of our adventures from start to finish.

Food Tripping

Happy Earth Day y’all!

To celebrate, one of my favorite blogs – SHFT – co-founded by Entourage’s Adrian Grenier – and Ford Motors Company launched a new app today that allows you to find great tasting and healthy food while you’re on the road. I’ve only taken one road trip in my life and on that trip, I had a Subway sandwich from a gas station (yep – it was conjoined! It was weird!) and an In-N-Out burger because … if you turn that down, then you are a fool. It’s so easy to spot out a fast food joint because there are signs for them all over the highway, but sometimes you just want something that’s good for ya!

With Food Tripping, the app will direct you to farmers’ markets, juice joints, microbreweries and food that your body won’t hate you for.

In-N-Out Delivers

My favorite California burger chain is now taking delivery orders in San Francisco! This wouldn’t do me any good at all, but it’s exciting nonetheless. To order, just visit this site right here and place your order anytime between 9am-7pm. There’s a $10 minimum order, but when you want something so badly (and as good as In-N-Out,) it is completely worth it.

San Francisco: Food + Places + Things

So I just realized that my first post about San Francisco was a little bit weak. It was all sorts of reflective-ness and such, but I didn’t even go into detail about the things that matter the most: the food and the sights and everything we did in between. San Francisco is a beautiful city. It has so much character and color. People are full of energy almost all of the time and being there for four days was an adventure like I’ve never experienced before. Many friends told me before leaving on my trip that San Francisco is a lot like Seattle. I disagree. It’s in a city, sure, and it’s near water, but other than those two things, nothing else stood out to me that would support the cities being similar. If you’re making a visit soon, just stop – and look up at the buildings and the structure of it all. There’s also way more things to do there than in Seattle. In fact, I’m probably going to need to plan another trip again soon to complete it all.

On our first day, we picked up lunch at a popular deli called Arguello. We took our sandwiches up to the old army barracks overlooking Golden Gate and battled the intense winds as I tried to nom my sandwich desperately needing a hair tie. Afterwards, we just decided to embrace the wind. The photograph above is just a still of my girlfriends running with it for five minutes.

In-N-Out’s super secret menus

Writer J. Kenji Lopez-Alt made it his goal to test out everything offered on the In-N-Out menu, but decided to take his mission further by extending to both the secret menu and the super-secret menu. Sometimes, I wish I were a California native just so that I could have In-N-Out whenever I wanted. After completing his task, he has shared with us some of his favorites off of the secret menu that have been the hidden gems of the fast food eatery.

  • The 4×4: four patties, four slices of cheese
  • Root beer float: self-explanatory
  • The medium-rare option! (also self-explanatory)
  • Neopolitan: all three kinds of milkshake mixed together (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla)
  • Flying Dutchman: two slices of cheese melted between two patties
  • Chopped chillis: can be grilled into the bottom of your patty

Oh you’re very welcome.
