What To Cook & How To Cook It: Glazed Carrots

Before school started, I received a copy of Jane Hornby’s latest book “What To Cook & How To Cook It.” I decided to make this goal for myself that I would complete one recipe from every section of the book – breakfast – food sharers – sides – desserts – etc. Not too long ago, I decided to check off glazed carrots from the sides list.

I don’t want to give the recipe away because you can totally use it for yourself when you grab a copy of this book. 🙂

I do, however, want to say that I very much enjoyed my glazed carrots and am looking forward to more cooking adventures with Miss Jane Hornby.

What to cook & How to cook it pt. 2

Hey guys!

I just received an advanced copy of Jane Hornby’s What To Cook & How To Cook It this past afternoon and let me just say that it is one gorgeous book. It is thick and packed with recipes that come along with beautiful and clear pictures. I was flipping through the book pre-dinner and found myself wanting to try a lot of them out, but maybe that’s because I was starving. I’ve decided that I want to try one recipe from each section ie) breakfast, side dishes, desserts, to share, etc. After I try them out, I’ll be reviewing them on my blog because as you know I’m new to cooking so I thought it would help give all of you a clearer idea of what this book is about as well as helping me practice a little bit more on my cooking skills.

Also, since I’m new to this whole thing and will be completely cooking everything myself this year – I’ve got a question for you. Before the end of the week, I want to make a menu for the following week that way I can buy everything I need at the grocery store on the weekend and know what I will be eating and managing all the food groups and that sort of thing. Readers – do you guys do this too? Any tips?

Jane Hornby’s What to Cook and How to Cook It

A little over a week ago, I wrote a post about the new cook book “What To Cook and How To Cook It” by Jane Hornby. I was drawn in by the adorable cover and mentioned that I would definitely be checking it out when it was released this October. This morning, I heard from the book’s publicist who told me she’d be happy to send me over an advanced copy so I could review it! I’m not exactly sure how to review a recipe book, but after reading the press release and learning more information about it I am pretty excited!

These days blogs have become incredibly popular for news and learning. We are all learning from each other and about the things we specialize in whether it be fashion, food, or music. Jane Hornby wanted to incorporate the way we learn into her book, which is step-by-step. The book promises 100 recipes and 850+ color photographs that show the recipe being made in almost each step of the process. No more questioning if it “looks right.”

Obviously, I am not the best cook in the world, but I am open to learning because I think the idea of cooking is fun. I want to be proud of what I make and impress my friends while also trying not to starve! Some recipes from the book that I plan on trying out are the Mushroom Risotto, Lasagna, Maple Roasted Winter Vegetables, and chocolate chip cookies. Classic.

What to Cook & How to Cook It

I have taken up quite the interest in cook books as of recently so I am very excited to browse this new book by Jane Hornby “What to Cook & How to Cook It” when it hits shelves October. It’s a beginners guide of course, but it includes 100 simple dishes that are known to be slightly altered including spaghetti carbonara and the perfect roast chicken.

Sounds perfect! Pre-order here
