Juicebox Opening Up Shop

Earlier this year, I mentioned my interest in trying a juice cleanse to start off the new year with a health kick. After a stern talking to from Kevin, I was advised against it and instead was suggested to just “have a Jamba Juice everyday.” Not…really the same thing. While I decided to hold off on juicing months ago, it is still something that I would like to try out for myself just to maybe prove that I could do it, cleanse my body, and because I simply like juice. With those three solid reasons,  I have decided to gear myself up for attempt two now that Juicebox has decided to open their own store! From a stand at the farmer’s market, to a pop-up shop, the company is expanding and with that it only seemed logical that they open up shop.

At their store, you will find their seasonal juice lineup that they are known for and will have an environment similar to a restaurant.

Brunson and Myett are both professional cooks, and while the kitchen’s lack of hood and oven preclude much actual cooking, they’re planning a menu of housemade kimchi and pickles, yogurts, granola, nut milks, crudo, ceviche, soups, salads, smoked fish, and plenty of vegetables.

The store is slated to open late fall. For full details, click here!

Thoughts On Juice Cleansing

January – the month of resolutions, wanted change, and getting healthy. For the last 23 days, I have been scouring the blogs only to find that one of this year’s biggest (and trendiest) resolutions is the juice cleanse. Personally, I’ve never done one, but I’m very interested in it. Do I think that I could last 3 days on an all liquid diet? Probably not – that’s going to be a challenge, but the thought of detoxing and cleansing my body and starting off fresh is so appealing. I know there’s plenty of advice online for cleansing your liver so perhaps I’ll start doing the research to begin my detoxing journey.

The cleanse program was created by a Seattle-based company called Juicebox and it’s pretty flexible in that you can do it for one day, three days, or five days. It’s also $60 a day so it’s kind of an expensive cleanse, but I can only imagine that your body is going to love you a lot for it (or hate you cause it might think you’re starving.)

I decided to get a second opinion and read Seattle Met’s Allecia Vermillion’s point of view on the juice cleanse and while it seems like she had some ups and downs – the end result was positive.

So what do you think readers? Should I do it?! A 3-day cleanse is pretty heavy on my poor post-grad bank account, but I think even one day could do me some good. Would you try it?
