Kaitlin Rebesco: Color Block

In a city like New York, it can be easy for things to blend into its surroundings especially for the many billboards. Chicago-born, but Paris-based photographer Kaitlin Rebesco decided to change that. In her new Color Block series, she has replaced photographs of billboards with simple color-blocked squares. The muted images are both interesting and in my opinion, kind of soothing. It’s nice to think that we can look at something from a different perspective that is used to being so busy and at times distracting.

“Outdoor advertisements are so ubiquitous in New York that they have almost started to become a part of the city’s architecture,” she writes. “Residents of the city are so inundated with these messages that they hardly even seem to notice them anymore.”
