The Black List – Kat Dennings

Before she  starred in The House Bunny and one of my favorite movies, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, Kat Dennings got her start on a little sitcom called Raising Dad alongside Bob Saget AKA Full House’s Danny Tanner. That show did not get nearly enough credit because sadly it was canceled after 22 episodes. I was probably the only one that was disappointed in learning that news though, but that’s what always happens to my favorite shows. Hellcats!

Anyways, Blackbook Magazine has this feature called the Black List and they asked Kat Dennings to rant off on 15 things that she hates. It is basically a list of things we all are thinking about most of the time anyways, but just never bother to say it out loud.

My favorites:

2. Boatneck tops. Are you serious? Who in their right mind would wear a boatneck? I’ve never wanted my clavicle to be a focal point. People who are actually on boats don’t even wear boatneck tops. They wear coats and stuff.

6. Bicylce people. I can’t even deal with bicycle people. Don’t be in my lane. Be in the designated bicycle lane or on the sidewalk. Also, wear some sort of head protection. What do you think cars are made out of? Marshmallows?

13. Mass texts from people you met once. No, I do not want to go to your “awes0me BBQ;).” Nor do I want to find you a roomate by the end of next month. I deleted you from my phone but that didn’t do any good, did it? Because now your texts just display a bunch of numbers instead of whatever your name is.

Girl is great. I can’t wait to see her return to my television in her new series Broke Girls this fall. To read the rest of the list, click the source. HOBviously.

Daydream Nation

The new film Daydream Nation, starring Kat Dennings will premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. The trailer definitely is quite mysterious, but what you need to know is that Kat plays 16-year old Caroline Wexer who relocates to a new city with her widowed father. She’s having an affair with one of her teachers at school, but has a guy on the side who is also in love with her. That’s not a very good synopsis, but you make do with the trailer you have.

Sorry.

*****

But seriously, here’s a synopsis:

Only sixteen years old, Caroline Wexler (Kat Dennings) is facing a teenager’s nightmare: her widowed father has moved from the city to a tiny, nowhere town where the major tourist attraction is an industrial fire that seems destined to burn forever and everyone under the age of nineteen is permanently stoned. Concocting new ways of getting high is a major hobby for most of Caroline’s classmates, including the lovelorn Thurston (Reece Thompson), who falls for Caroline the minute he lays eyes on her. And then there’s the minor inconvenience of a killer running around the neighborhood. What’s a girl to do but start an affair with the most available teacher at school?
