Wish I Was Here

[youtube=http://youtu.be/kw8VCDx399I]

It feels like just yesterday we were learning about the news that Zach Braff was making a new film and funding it through Kickstarter. Well, we’re happy to announce that the movie was finally made and will be released in theaters this coming July. “Wish I Was Here” is kind of like the unofficial/official sequel to Garden State. We’re not really sure what the film is about, but it has that same indie/mysterious vibe that Garden State once had. Literally, the trailer gives nothing away.

Official Veronica Mars Trailer

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq1R93UMqlk]

Veronica Mars was one of my favorite off-and-on shows growing up! The reason why I was so inconsistent in watching it was because I just couldn’t keep to the schedule very well, but you can be sure that before the film comes out I’ll find myself catching up on every episode with a marathon. The best part about this film coming out is that it was mostly funded by fans through a Kickstarter. The fans are the reason that the film was being made at all!

The fan-funded flick hits theaters on Friday, March 14 in AMC Theaters in select markets across the U.S.
The Kickstarter to fund the movie launched in February 2013 and reached its goal of $2 million in 10 hours. The Kickstarter campaign grossed more than $5.7 million.

Top Posts of the Week

With the nice weather out in Seattle, I have been spending less time on  the computer and more time outside and with great company! Obviously by doing that, I have gotten behind on posts for the week. Apologies. Instead of making an individual post for each, we’re doing a roundup and playing catch up!

PHỞ LIFE By Townfolk

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLBIRRObQDY]

This video by Blue Scholars’ Sabzi was released earlier this week, but I’m just now mentioning it.  It’s about Pho and various Pho restaurants around Seattle and Vietnamese food and drink references. I think the Kickstarter is to raise money so that they can release a line of posters and stickers.

I mostly just think any video dedicated to Pho in general is hilar.

How very Seattle…

+ Pool

+Pool was created and designed by three guys who just wanted to swim out in the rivers of New York City without actually being in the river. Together, they have implemented a plan to create a plus-shaped swimming pool that is open to everyone. Having started this over a year ago, they’ve constructed the plans and raised a bit of money – but still asking for more in hopes to turn their dream into a reality. To learn more about the +Pool project, visit their website here.

Things I Like – I will Promote

Not being able to blog regularly has given me the time to reflect back on where I am at with Yow Yow! and where I want to be with Yow Yow! When I first started this blog, it was for the sole purpose of recording news. I went through a period of time where I was spending a great deal of posts talking about celebrities, but that wasn’t the blog that I had envisioned for myself. Having this blog, however, has given me the opportunity to reach out to a variety of people. I had great experiences working with writers, musicians, companies, and my favorite – interviewing people. Celebrities may be the talk of the town now, but that doesn’t last. These projects that I am learning from people and these experiences that they have given to both others and myself have proven to me that there is something much bigger than us in this world.

That’s not to say that we can’t do anything because our world is so big. What I’m trying to say is that we have the capacity and the resources to gain support from others in order to obtain what we need. We have this chance to spread the word about these projects and great opportunities! Here’s hoping that you are still able to follow my train of thought… I’ve been wanting to help a specific group of people since I was 15. While I want to be able to help everyone, I felt passionate and called to help out local musicians and bands. I wanted to see their music supported and purchased. I wanted to make their form of expression known.

Blogging has been a perfect outlet for me to express anything at all and I am just now realizing that I can voice these ideas and inspirations from others through Yow Yow! Though I wasn’t able to blog at 15, I am fully capable now and where I would like to see Yow Yow go is in the direction of promoting others. Yow Yow! won’t become a running advertisement, but I hope that I will be able to  expose these projects from those around the world. I want to introduce all of you to incredible music that both you and I are listening to. And I hope that through this, we can be truly inspired by humanity.

So to “kick” things off, here is a little montage created by Kickstarter. For those of you who are not familiar, Kickstarter is a platform for which users can create accounts to ask for the support of others in their projects or ideas. I have been introduced to many incredible projects while perusing Kickstarter and have even had friends of mine who have been able to raise money for their service travels or to put out their own records. It truly is a wonderful and gracious act of kindness.
