A Kraft Valentine’s Day

We were slightly okay with this when we thought it was macaroni and cheese dyed pink. It’s unconventional, but we get it given the theme. However, learning that this is a sweetened version of mac and cheese, we have major reservations. First off, who is asking for this?

How exactly is the macaroni and cheese sweetened? ie) what gives it the sugary taste? According to a spokesperson, the shade of bright pink comes from beetroot and carrot concentrates. It could be worse, but it actually sounds healthy. As for the taste though, you’ll find fructose, natural flavors and vanilla extract. Basically, this meal is going to taste like candy.

While it is an interesting PR move, you won’t be able to find this special edition box in stores. Kraft instead will be holding a sweepstakes where 1,000 winners at random will receive one of these select boxes. You can enter now until February 8th [here]. And yes, while I’m completely confused by the idea, I did enter because I like to win.

Mac ‘N Cheese Is Breakfast Now

In a weird flex, Kraft has announced a mac ‘n cheese rebrand to now being breakfast food. According to them, 56% of parents have served their kids mac ‘n cheese for breakfast. It’s weird because I grew up knowing 0% of kids that ever had this as a breakfast alternative. The limited edition “breakfast” box isn’t just getting a new look though. Inside the box, you’ll also find a cup, a magnet and a coloring mat. How big is this cup though and how does it fit into the regular sized box?

I’m Part of a Recall Y’all!

Actually this is more scary than exciting, but Kraft has called for a re-call for 242,000 boxes of macaroni and cheese because they believe that 6.5 million boxes of mac and cheese might contain pieces of metal!

In a press release the company gave instructions so customers can find out if they’ve bought any of the possibly contaminated boxes. The issue has affected boxes of the “original” flavor size 7.25-oz with the expiration dates September 18, 2015-October 11, 2015. The boxes must also have the code C2 below the expiration date.

In their company statement, Kraft said, “Consumers who purchased this product should not eat it. They should return it to the store where purchased for an exchange or full refund.”

I actually just got up to go check my Kraft boxes and discovered, to my surprise, that they are no longer in my cabinets. It’s cool, I guess I’m currently containing metal then.

Currently Craving:

photo cred | Refinery29 via Dinner: A Love Story

When you think of comfort food, what is the first meal you think of? For me, it’s usually some kind of pasta dish. The perfect chilly fall afternoon for me would consist of me making myself a bowl of pasta and curling up on my couch snuggled with my Pendleton blanket. Let’s not sugar coat this though; I’m not exactly a pro at making any kind of extravagant pasta so the one that I would be making is a box of Kraft Mac and Cheese (Thick & Creamy) with Sriraccha drizzle. Luckily, Refinery29 like to provide more adult-like recipes that don’t involve a box so they’ve provided their readers with a recipe that include potato chips instead! Yum. I haven’t touched my kitchen at all, but I’d let one of my friends make this for me I suppose.

Check out the recipe here!
