DailyCandy to Shut Down in April

[youtube=http://youtu.be/zEB_ndtIvUs]

Earlier this week, I learned that lifestyle blog DailyCandy will be shuttering in April. While I don’t have all the time in the world these days to keep up with some of my favorite blogs, I am still sad to learn this news. Lifestyle blogs encompass so many topics ranging from health, technology, relationships, life, etc and cover much more ground than your standard fashion blogs. Another reason why I am partial to DailyCandy is because our former guest interviewee Suchin Pak was a correspondent for the lifestyle blog and regularly contributed to the site. Above is one of her segments on gadgets in technology that she was obsessed with at the time.

DailyCandy will surely be missed.

10 Foods To Fight Headaches

When I have a headache, I usually have to take Tylenol with food to get rid of it. Had I had severe migraines, then taking natural alternatives like say, CBD supplements (available from providers similar to Vibes CBD) could have also been considered. Did you know, however, that there are foods that you can eat that are also an instant cure? These food items seem random to me, but Lauren Conrad believes them to be true.

If you’re suffering from a headache, you may want to do some research of your own to find an instant cure. Caffeine Headache: Symptoms, Withdrawal, Treatment and Alternatives could be a good read if you’re a frequent sufferer from headaches.

Also, I think some of these items are on a case-by-case basis. I actually can get headaches from coffee, but I have known bananas to help with my headaches so if you have one, I wouldn’t suggest eating and drinking all of these things. After all, you know your body better than anyone else.

It’s important to note the types of foods that will also GIVE you headaches as well:

Cheese, artificial sweeteners, processed meats and caffeine (if you’re not used to it or if you drink too much)

What A Man Should Wear To Work

http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ldwcxko95P1qetbkqo1_r1_500.jpg

When you dress well, you feel better about yourself. It’s the motto that I’ve always known and still stand by to this day. When I was in college, I just couldn’t understand how people could come to class in their sweats – and not just their sweats. They had the sweats AND the sweatshirt/hoodie set up. Like, who in the world needs to be THAT comfortable? So I asked myself, is comfortable satisfying? Sure you’re warm and all snuggly and look like you should’ve never left your bedroom (I wish I could have been that person to tell you that) but really, do you feel good? Do you feel like you actually look good? What kind of mindset do you have when you’re wearing that get-up? Are you motivated?

If the answer is yes, you are lying to yourself. I can’t speak for every workplace environment, but what’s trending lately is no longer really the business casual. For example, start-ups and much smaller companies are allowing for a more casual dress, but you don’t see those employees coming in with sweats, do you? No, because it’s unprofessional. However, there is still a way for you to be casual, be comfortable, and look good all at the same time. I bet you didn’t think that was possible, but it is. And this article I found is tailored to guys – but let’s face it, y’all need this advice much more than the ladies do. So to the guys who are still sluffing – get your head on straight because if you want to be taken seriously, you need to dress the part. Truth.

And now? The article on Men At Work: How To Dress Well

School: 10 Favorite Posts

Earlier this afternoon, I received my school’s quarterly magazine and instantly missed everything about being back in school. This past week, I have been feeling all sorts of nostalgia. I wanted to be a freshman again. I wanted to see my friends. This time last year before class started, I was doing happy hours every day (not just for the drinks y’all! Happy hour food is my guilty pleasure.) It also didn’t help that some of my favorite professors that I’ve ever had were featured in this magazine’s issue too. So all of these mixed emotions led me to looking back on my college days and selecting my 10 favorite “school-themed” posts to highlight.

It’s time for a blast from the past! And when I say past, I mean three months ago.

  1. What I’ll Miss About “Greek” (Because I lived vicariously through these characters who had a Greek system)
  2. From One Post Grad to Many Undergrads
  3. Work With Me, Mentee
  4. {Guest Post} By Ashley de Leon
  5. Pickwick Surprises
  6. Prom Season Is Coming Up
  7. Dorm Life
  8. Meet: Brendan Leonard
  9. Smart
  10. Connie is a Graduate [from my idol Connie Wang]
