When you dress well, you feel better about yourself. It’s the motto that I’ve always known and still stand by to this day. When I was in college, I just couldn’t understand how people could come to class in their sweats – and not just their sweats. They had the sweats AND the sweatshirt/hoodie set up. Like, who in the world needs to be THAT comfortable? So I asked myself, is comfortable satisfying? Sure you’re warm and all snuggly and look like you should’ve never left your bedroom (I wish I could have been that person to tell you that) but really, do you feel good? Do you feel like you actually look good? What kind of mindset do you have when you’re wearing that get-up? Are you motivated?
If the answer is yes, you are lying to yourself. I can’t speak for every workplace environment, but what’s trending lately is no longer really the business casual. For example, start-ups and much smaller companies are allowing for a more casual dress, but you don’t see those employees coming in with sweats, do you? No, because it’s unprofessional. However, there is still a way for you to be casual, be comfortable, and look good all at the same time. I bet you didn’t think that was possible, but it is. And this article I found is tailored to guys – but let’s face it, y’all need this advice much more than the ladies do. So to the guys who are still sluffing – get your head on straight because if you want to be taken seriously, you need to dress the part. Truth.
