I’m so old that I completely forgot that this was happening tonight and that the award show has changed its name to “MTV Movie and Television Awards.” We’re not sure when that happened, but we do appreciate the inclusivity for television series. Next up? All of our favorite looks and nothing about the award show itself because we’re not watching it this year.

My heart sunk a little when I saw this news earlier this week. In all the years that I’ve been sharing music festival lineups on Yow Yow! I’ve never actually had to go back and retract something like this. We shared this lineup to the blog just at the end of March and not even a month and a half later, the organizers have announced that the entire festival is being canceled. What a terrible feeling for all those involved especially those behind-the-scenes who likely spent a year + trying to put together what would have been a fantastic weekend.
The festival takes place in LA, which has an incredible music scene so I’ve been trying to wrack my brain to figure out what went wrong. Was it Coachella? Was it the clause that prevents other artists and bands from performing at music festivals and concerts within a certain time span of each other? It was disappointing when San Francisco lost Treasure Island Music after their 2016 run, but to cancel a fest before it even had a chance to get up on its legs is heartbreaking.

Earlier this week, the cult beauty brand announced that they were opening up shop in Los Angeles. Glossier is expanding…and fast! Already an icon in New York City, just a little over a month ago or so, Glossier took over one of my favorite sandwich shops in the Mission to make it’s own pop-up. I went there last week and it was madness. However, more on that later. Having raised just $52 million back in February for their Series C, it seems as though the brand is using this funding to expand out further not only in new products, but in brick-and-mortar spaces. This will be their 2nd permanent location after their one in New York City and it is slated to open this coming May.

It may be fall everywhere else in the world, but southern California is still experiencing 95 degree weather and yesterday’s outfit choices in LA for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Show prove it. The finalists from the competition showcased at Chateau Marmont in front of a panel of judges and in attendance for the event were some of our favorite celebrity icons and even those that are style icons in the making. Here are some of our favorite looks:
Dress – Free People / Bag – Forever21 / Heels – Vince Camuto
Recognize this dress?! It’s the same one that I wore to my company’s holiday party back in 2015 and today – I’m still loving it and just excited that I was able to get a second use out of it. I was informed a week before I started my new job that three days into my first week, I’d be heading to LA with my new team and to bring something that was either business casual or a little bit more formal. I think I packed three options for this event even though it was just a one-night thing because I wasn’t really sure and needed to compare with my new colleagues. This emerald lace number will forever be a prized possession for me! I still remember stumbling upon it randomly when I was in desperate need of a holiday party dress and almost didn’t buy it because it was labeled as a “slip.” Don’t be fooled though because it is in fact just a dress (rather a more fitted one) but still just as classy.
Also forgive me because I’m still trying to learn how to curl my hair and I’m definitely not a pro.
I love this so much.

I’ve been following James Curran on Twitter for what feels like a year now and since I discovered him, I have been glued to his GIFs. They’re a mixture of adorableness, but also innovative and whimsical. Last July, he spent a month in LA and challenged himself by releasing a new LA-themed GIF every day. It was awesome. And yes, I actually checked every day! Here is all of them compiled into a video for your convenience.
