{Follow Up} w/ Dating Brian

With recently developed dating applications lately like Bang With Friends and Tinder and the rise in online dating websites, people have a lot of dating and premium hook up apps to pick and choose from. There’s a dating app for almost everyone, from Christians to lovers of video games or wine! Even for muslims who are very particular about their dating tactics. However, still, there really is a dating app for muslim marriage! With the sheer amount out there on the market, does that mean the chances to land a successful date are high as well?

I decided to catch up with a guy I interviewed three years ago who set off on a dating challenge. Dating Brian vowed to go on a date everyday for a month as an experiment and when I caught up with him, he was right in the middle of it. He was dating girls he’d met whilst out and girls he’s met online BBW Dating Sites. He was ignoring his “usual type” and dating various girls, hoping to find a significant other. Now three years later, he has completed the project and I wanted to know where he ended up! Dating Brian was so kind to answer my follow-up questions on how his dating style has changed, if he’s currently in a relationship now, and what he’s been up to.

Q: It’s been three years since we last talked and back then you were dating up a storm! More like one date every day for 30 days. I never got to chat with you after the Dating Brian project ended. How did that turn out?

Brian: Man, it really has been a while. It went well-got to meet a bunch of awesome ladies and chill out about the stress of dating. Also, got a job out of it!

Q: I remember that you went on a second date with one of the girls, how did that story pan out?

Brian: My last date of the project was going on a third date with her and we kept chatting a little bit afterwards. The interesting part: she met a couple of my friends and they still hang out to this day. So, I still see her from time to time.

Meet: Dating Brian

It was just last Monday, that Dating Brian had begun his slew of dates for his 30 Days 30 Dates project. When I first heard about the idea and made a post about it I was incredibly intrigued by it all. Right away, I had a ton of questions for Brian regarding how this project started, how it would be documented, how his dating style was. It’s funny because when it comes to relationships, it’s on a more personal level so you figure you shouldn’t really ask these types of questions. Then again, he’s crowd sourcing his dating life so I won’t hold back if he doesn’t. Maybe, before he embarks on his dating adventure, he would do well enlisting the services of the likes of Matchmaker Review for some dating advice.

But seriously, Dating Brian [even if I knew his last name, I would still call him by this name] seems like a sweetheart and a gentleman. So help the guy out w/ his project, I’m sure you’ll get a great date out of it.

Question: Brian you are 23 years old, what do you do for a living? And what should we know about you and your dating style?

Brian: I’m currently an intern (that’s a career for you), but I’ve freelanced a lot on video and web projects-anything having to do with media, really. In regards to my dating style, I think it’s too early to tell. Anything I say now I’m sure will change dramatically in a month from now.

Q: I just heard about your project on The Frisky this week, but how long has it been in the making? When did you first come up with the idea and when did you launch your website?

B: This project was thought up and launched over a very short period of time. It was only a couple weeks ago when I was sitting at brunch with my two friends and I said that I wondered what it would be like if I crowdsourced my dating life. Within a week and a half from there, I uploaded the main video for the project and put the site up.

Q: Will you be blogging about this project so that all of your fans will know how these dates are going?

B: Absolutely. I’ll be doing videos and possibly a bit of text throughout the entire experiment to update those who are interested in watching me (hopefully) revive my dating life. Twitter will probably stay pretty interesting throughout.

Q: So after you review the applications you’ve received, do you just give them a call and ask them out?

B: For those who’ve submitted their numbers, yes. It’s a new experience for me-not only have I not called a girl before to plan a date like this, but from the Internet?

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JGB6ULhjZ0&feature=player_embedded]

Q: Is this the first time you’ve ever gone on a blind date? Are you scared? Nervous? Excited? Not to mention, you’re putting your life into the hands of complete strangers!

B: Pretty much the first time I’ve gone on a blind date, yes. Scared? Nervous? Excited? I’d have to say D) All of the Above. It’s going to be different, that’s for sure. But that’s what’ll make it so much fun. I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m not sure many other people out there have either. Plus, I think I generally trust the people of the Internet. I mean, they’re people too. Right?

Q: What is the purpose behind this project? I think it’s a great idea, but I think I’d be too scared to ever do something like this so first of all I would like to commend you for your bravery. Are you doing 30 Dates 30 Days for fun or are you really looking for love possibly?

B: It’s definitely not easy. At the end of the day, I’m leaving my self open to whatever comes of the experience through this project-I could find a girlfriend or I could just have a blast in the 30 days I’m doing this. There’s a huge dating world out here in New York City, and I’m just trying to make a dent in it. We’ll see what happens.

Q: What happens if you meet a girl, and you really hit it off w/ her one night? Would you wait until having a second date w/ her until your project is done?

B: If the people of the Internet decide as a whole that I should go on a second date with a girl, then so be it. Otherwise, to perhaps both my and their detriment, it’ll have to wait I suppose.

[Brian has all of his dates fills out a a little questionaire]

Q: What would you say is your best quality?

B: Genuineness. To a fault, I have trouble being someone that I’m not. I speak my mind, stay true to myself, and generally look at things in a positive light. How can you tell? Remember how I’m hoping that the Internet will choose what’s best for me? Yeah. That’s a pretty positive light if I’ve ever seen one.

Q: What kinds of qualities do you look for in a potential dater or possible girlfriend?

B: You know, I’ve been asked this a bunch regarding the project. And the conclusion that I’ve come to is that while I have plenty of ideas in my head as to what would be the best date or the best girlfriend, the biggest part of this project is trying new things. So, consider my slate cleaned: I have no idea what I look most for in a girl. Hopefully I’ll know better in a month.

Q: What is the weirdest thing you have seen on an application so far?

B: Weirdest? I’m actually surprised with how much normalcy these applications have been. I guess two girls applying as one date might be the weirdest. But also probably the coolest.

Q: Tell us about the best date you’ve ever been on.

B: Simple, cheap dates that mean a lot are the best.

[Brian’s date w/ Bryn the lawyer]

Q: Any deal breakers?

B: Deal breakers? I guess not so much. That being said, girls that are interesting are a huge plus.

Q: Would you ever go on a dating show like The Bachelor? I feel like your idea is so much better!

B: I like to think I’d never go on a dating show like that. The main reason being how generally fake and contrived the shows are. I’m not changing who I am for this and I surely hope the girls I’ll be dating will do the same. This is more documentary than reality show. I like real stuff.

Q: Give us your best dating advice.

B: Me? Dating advice? Be yourself. Not only will you weed out the people that don’t jive with you, you’ll be inherently more confident. I mean, who acts like yourself better than you do? Right. Nobody. Except perhaps Woody Allen in my situation.

Q: How do you think this project will affect your life?

B: The biggest thing I think I’ll get out of this is perspective. Not just the world of dating but the

I actually received this interview back from Dating Brian three days ago, but had been waiting to post it because he didn’t get to finish the answer to the last question and it’s a pretty big question don’t you think? Hopefully when he sees that I’ve posted this, he can finish his response for us. Meanwhile you can follow Dating Brian and his journey on Twitter , Facebook, and Website

Thanks Brian! We wish you the best of luck on your blooming dating life!
