Yow Yow! in Big Sur!

screen-shot-2017-01-01-at-5-01-25-pm

Living in the Bay Area has provided me with so many opportunities to have the quick getaways that I always wanted! In the 3 years that I’ve lived here, I’ve spent time in Napa, Sonoma, Tahoe, Sausalito, Monterey, and Carmel. It’s not like I was in the middle of nowhere when I was living in Seattle, but because I had lived there my whole life, I thought I had all the time in the world to explore places. The problem was that I never did. This is something I’ve taken advantage of more since moving. One of the places that I’ve been itching to get to was Big Sur. I knew it was close and on one of my long weekends from work, I knew it would be perfect for a day trip. I also was set on doing just about anything to see the Bixby Canyon Bridge. Death Cab for Cutie did that to us back in 2008. Sandeep and I set out in the morning and went straight to the beach for our shots. From there, we went to lunch and Glen Oaks, which I totally thought was going to be just a hike in the woods for us, but ended up being a hotel in the woods. Lucky for us, a jaunt around the grounds was about a mile anyways so…it was a mile long hike. Then on our way out – the bridge! We must’ve driven on it back and forth at least four times until we could find parking. We couldn’t leave without it though.

To end the day, Sandeep and I hit up Monterey on the way home for an Italian dinner and then made our way back to South Bay.

Lightning In A Bottle 2015

Odesza! AlunaGeorge! Pillowtalk! Les Sins!

If only I weren’t going to be in San Diego for Memorial Day Weekend… (actually I’m really excited about this trip!) California has such good music festivals.

Favorites of 2014

Favorite Style Icon: Lily Aldridge

Lily is a style icon both on the runway and on the red carpet. This year, we really got to see her show up at a lot of events dressed to perfection. She was featured in our “Snaps for a Snapshots” several times in 2014 so even by the numbers alone, she beats everyone else. We’re looking forward to seeing more of her in 2015 and someday taking over the head angel slot when Adriana and Alessandra retire.

Runner up: Jamie Chung

First City Festival

The Bay Area has really great lineups other than just Outside Lands. I love hearing about these festivals taking place outside of the city.

The Weekend: 5 Things

I feel quite fortunate to be able to work with a company that can afford to take all of us on a three day retreat away from the office and off to Monterey. It was my first time visiting the area and it was absolutely gorgeous. California, in general is so pretty. We stayed in Pacific Grove at Asilomar just steps away from the beach and it was amazing. I’m actually including six pictures in this post today, but with a trip as wonderful as this one, does anyone really care to count? I was hoping to catch the sunset on my last night there and unfortunately missed it. That didn’t stop me from running as fast as I could down to the beach though to finish watching the sun go down.

Our company had the option of participating in several activities like hiking, biking, and kayaking. Since I had never gone before, I felt like I had to take advantage of the opportunity. It was pretty strenuous on the arms, but completely worth it having the chance to kayak right next to sea otters and dolphins!

So I’ve been on an oyster craving lately if you haven’t noticed. I’m basically obsessed and can’t get enough. I went to the same restaurant in Monterey TWICE while I was there for an order of oysters with two different groups of people. Thanks for keepin’ it real fresh  Fish Hopper.

This trip wouldn’t be complete without a selfie Snapchat on our way back to the Peninsula.

First City Festival

It’s always exciting to learn when new festivals are popping up and that seems to be happening a lot these days! I remember when I witnessed an incredible music festival in San Diego shut down when I had plans to attend it a second year. Budget cuts are the worst, but they out of everyone’s control especially to those who enjoy these music festivals the most. With that said, California is gaining another festivals after losing one several years back.

The First City Festival held in Monterey, California has an incredible lineup for its first year out including: Passion Pit, Beach House, Toro y Moi, Washed Out, Capital Cities, Electric Guest, Tennis, and many more. Want to learn more about the artists? Free People has provided a great playlist to get you all caught up in time for the big show in August.
