Finding Carter

I really don’t need to be adding any more shows to watch in addition to all the TV shows that I watch each night, but this one looked good! It’s surprising, right? Because it’s MTV. Actually the real reason I’m watching this series is because the main character “Carter” is played by Kathryn Prescott who was probably one of my favorite characters in Skins. I have no doubts that she will do an amazing job in this series as well.

Mike Song & Phil Garvin – AlunaGeorge “Attracting Flies” Choreography

Oh boy, I’ve been a huge fan of Mike Song since I first watched him with Kaba Modern on America’s Best Dance Crew. I’m not sure if that entire team is still doing something together, but I like the fact that most of them are still dancing and doing their own side projects. This choreography and remix are amazing.

Song of the Day

Miley Cyrus – #GETITRIGHT

So I’m a little bit embarrassed that this is today’s Song of the Day, but I watched her perform last night on Miley’s MTV Unplugged Special and really found myself enjoying it. Cute, no?

Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg Are Engaged!

Congrats to my favorite ex-San Diego Real Worlder and one of my favorite (underrated) characters on One Tree Hill. They aren’t so much of a hi-pri couple, but we like them both all the same. The couple became engaged over the holidays and began dating in the spring of 2012.

Jamie basically wins all around for being the most successful Real World cast member.

The Real World Trailer (Season 29)

Every season, I generally get pretty excited about The Real World. I’m not sure why because the same scenarios happen every single time, but I had heard a rumor that the castmates were actually living in San Francisco this season. Naturally, I wanted a sighting – don’t worry – it hasn’t happened yet or anything. Then I learned that on this season, the tables would be turned. The season would start out with seven singles living in a house in San Francisco, but after a mini-trip, they return to find that every one of their exes has moved into the house.

MTV, now you’re just REALLY creating the drama yourself. Not only is it weird, but it’s crowded. I have to remember 14 more stories about each person and lord knows I don’t have time for that. I’m no longer excited about the season because I know it’s going to be a hot mess, but I don’t have enough self-control to not watch at all.

Life is hard, you guys.

  • How to saber a champagne bottle [Source] I watched my co-worker and his roommate do this and it was awesome…but also awesomely dangerous so don’t attempt if you think you can’t.
  • Former Seattle Real World castmate Irene tells the true story from her season. [Source]
  • A $4 spaghetti recipe that tastes as good as the $24 one. [Source] I’m all about those life hacks.

Lauren Conrad is Engaged!

Our favorite Laguna Beach and The Hills star Lauren Conrad announced her engagement this weekend to her boyfriend William Tell. The two started dating last year. You basically just know that she’s going to have the most perfect wedding ever! Congrats Lauren! In other Laguna Beach news, her ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler got married this weekend to model Ashley Slack this past Saturday.

Remember music videos?

Readers, were you like us and watched music videos incessantly in the 90s? I remember waking up early and rushing home after school to catch VH1 and MTV. There’s something to be said for the ability to tell a story in 3-4 minutes while tailoring imagery to song.

Amos Lee nails it in Flowers directed by Mike Healey and Kelly Goeller. The concept of the video is stop motion using only white paper. With two weeks of creating the world and two weeks of filming, this video reminds me how much artistry is involved in making music videos and reinforces my love for them.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards

Miley Cyrus in vintage Dolce & Gabbana

Unfortunately, I was up in the air en route to San Jose this past Sunday while the MTV Video Music Awards was happening and had to miss  the entire show! Just as I was getting into my seat a video was released of Justin Timberlake’s performance, but as expected I had to put my phone away RIGHT before the *NSYNC reunion. Just my luck. Coming home today, I was hoping to watch the show on my OnDemand, but reached another dead end when I saw that it hadn’t been released! So as I write this post, I haven’t seen anything, but I’ve heard lots of opinions regarding Miley Cyrus and some of the outfit choices. Here are some of the outfits worth mentioning.

*NSYNC Joins Twitter One Day Before Reunion Performance

Hot off the news that *NSYNC will be reuniting for a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, the former boy band went ahead and decided to make a Twitter account. It’s kind of like a blast from the past, right? It would almost be like… the Spice Girls also making a Twitter. You just don’t expect it! So even though *NSYNC currently has one tweet out, does it mean we might be seeing more from the group? We’re hoping yes! Stay tuned y’all!

Ariana Grande on MTV’s Nikki & Sara LIVE

I actually don’t watch Nikki and Sara LIVE, but was stopped in my tracks when I saw that Ariana Grande made an appearance. In this clip, she sings bad news to employees at an office which is kind of a play off of what she did in an episode of Victorious previously. Girl can do no wrong.

*NSYNC To Reunite At This Sunday’s MTV VMA’s

The New York Times announced this morning that former boy band *NSYNC will come together this Sunday for a performance at this Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. But with that announcement, I have so many questions!

  • What songs(s) will they be performing?
  • Will they coordinate outfits?
  • Does Chris Kirkpatrick still have braids?
  • Is JC still a standout dancer?

The answers to these questions are so crucial.

Real World’s 29th Season Goes Back to San Francisco

The MTV reality series is heading back to San Francisco for its 29th season and insiders are reporting that this could be the last season for the series. The return to San Francisco comes after the original debuted over 20 years before. However, according to sources, this season is the make-or-break season for the show as previous seasons have garnered less than ideal viewership. The show has also received criticism that the seasons have showed increased violence and less intervening from producers as we have seen in the last season in Portland where multiple fights broke out between the cast members without any repercussions.

I’ve always loved The Real World, but it’s apparent that the seasons have changed so much over the years and the cast members selected as well. To be honest, I have always preferred the classics like San Diego (the first time) and Hawaii as my favorites. I’ll probably still watch this next season though. What are your thoughts? Should the series be cancelled?

The Hills Alternate Ending

Personally, I’ve always been more of a Laguna Beach Season 1 girl, but I won’t lie to you – I was thrilled when I heard that Lauren Conrad would have her own spinoff in Los Angeles. It wasn’t always a perfect television series, but it had its moments. We learned some great lessons from the series like…

  • At some point you’re going to have a Jason Wahler in your life and he’s going to suck
  • Your best friend won’t listen to you when you try to tell her that she’s with the wrong guy. We’re talking about you Heidi.
  • You can never trust anyone that has two first names – Justin Bobby
  • You should never give up a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Paris for Jason Wahler, but if you’re lucky like Lauren, you’ll get a second chance.

The alternate ending that MTV aired is entertaining, but I prefer the original.

Watch it here and let me know what you think!
