The Head And The Heart – Down In The Valley

No matter where I end up after I graduate or even long after I graduate, I will always have so much hometown pride for the music that comes out of Seattle. I don’t want to say some bold statement like, “I LOVE ALL SEATTLE MUSICIANS RAWR RAWR,” because I don’t, but I do love more than just a handful. The Head and The Heart is just one of those bands. These guys have blown up so quickly within the last year in a half snagging themselves slots on major music festivals, performing on late night television shows, and being named the band to watch out for from a number of places. Today they just release their new music video for “Down in the Valley.” Enjoy!

Indie Shuffle

Everyone has their own methods of studying. As a kid, I used to surround myself in the most hectic situations while doing homework. As soon as it was time to hit the books, I made sure I had a snack in front of me, the television on, and headphones in my ears playing music from my mini pink iPod. Oh those were the times…When I finally got to college, I studied in high traffic areas so that I could people watch. How I ever managed to get work done still amazes me to this day. These days, I’ve eliminated most of the clutter and am strictly just about the music. Spotify, iTunes, We Are Hunted – I pick one and call it good. I just discovered a new streaming website though that I think most of you will enjoy called Indie Shuffle. Looking for new music or new a soundtrack to study to? Try it out!

Good luck on midterms everyone!

Night night Yow Yow! My never ending notes are calling my name!

Bonus: Music Performance of the Evening

Every day, at least one thing becomes viral. While most days involve something that came from Lana Del Rey’s mouth, today it did not. Today, many people discovered the voice of Belgian-Australian musician Wouter De Backer of Gotye who performed on Jimmy Kimmel last night. Their performance of “Somebody That I Used To Know” was so good, it sent chills up my spine. Together, Gotye and a special appearance by Kimbra is all anyone is talking about. Ugh swooning over the both of them!
