Lollapalooza 2015 Street Style

I was invited by a friend to go to Lollapalooza this year using an artist wristband for Tove Lo and it was the best invitation I had ever gotten. Festivals like Lollapalooza cost hundreds of dollars to attend when you include the ticket, the flights to Chicago, and the accommodations. I had never been to Chicago before and I was so excited to go until I realized I had a work event the same weekend. It was the biggest let down, but this was the closest I’d ever gotten to something like this and I don’t doubt that it won’t happen again. Maybe the next invitation will be even better! Street style at music festivals is one of my favorite things to cover because it’s not just about what you wear to the event, it’s about being comfortable and wearing something that is somewhat functional. Here’s how these attendees did Lollapalooza this past weekend and they’re basically nailing it:

Spotify: Discover Weekly

Ever since I exited from working in the music industry, it has been a whole lot harder for me to discover new songs and artists/bands like I used to. Actually in general, since I’ve been working a full-time job, it has been more difficult to do these things and blog at the same time! As of late, I’ve been relying on Kevin updating his “Favorites Right Now” playlist every Tuesday so that I can find new music to listen to. Prior to this, Spotify had these apps – Twitter Music (formerly We Are Hunted before they were bought out) and Pitchfork which I used through Spotify religiously. Then that shuttered and I had Kevin. I learned through Herman Young tonight though about a new hack and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it for the past hour! I wish Spotify had made some sort of announcement about this because I know there’s probably other people just like me who are wondering the same thing.

Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist is calculated for your every week and released on Monday based on the songs you listened to the previous week. Wow, technology is cool, you guys. I use Spotify every day and even though I make my playlists for every season, there are times when I find that things are getting stale so I always want to be adding new songs. I’m so happy with this feature!

Here’s a look at what my playlist for this week looks like:

A Frankly Friday Fixtape

It’s not Friday anymore, but this weekend is definitely dedicated to Frank Ocean! Yo – where’s the new album, we’re waiting for it! I’ve been listening to this “Fixtape” everyday this week just to get me excited. I’m almost sure that it’s going to be a bigger hit than the Miguel album. Though I enjoyed listening to it, I think Frank has always been more my style.

The Internet – Dontcha

Happy Saturday loves!!! I’ve been obessed with listening to The Internet for about a week now. Funny story, my friend in LA told me that’s he’s been helping recording with Syd tha Kyd and I didn’t really have any idea who that was, but it turns out The Internet is actually her project. I’m really rusty on the music stuff these days, can you tell?

This piece of choreography below by Melissa Batesting is amazing. This is a pretty good song on its own to freestyle too and I was thinking about just hopping into a studio sometime this week or next and just seeing what we can make out of it. 15 second Instagram dance video sound good?

Little Mix – Black Magic

Okay so I was slightly embarassed when I decided that I actually loved this song. It totally reminds me of old school Spice Girls and all those British girl groups that I used to love though, plus it’s really fun to sing in the car.

“Take a sip of my secret potion, I’ll make you fall in loooooove!”
